Is there a way to get more diffuse lighting in the game?

I haven't found anything in the modding threads about this (admittedly I haven't read all 250 pages).

What I'd like to do is to make the shadows less sharp, in order to get better screenshots of Miranda's face in certain lighting conditions. One solution that has been suggested is to disable "depth-of-field" in Coalesced.ini, but that seems to make the image darker and less defined which works against what I'd like to achieve.

My starting point is this screenshot. I'd like to have more realistically diffuse lighting, to that the right part of her face isn't completely black any more. As a side effect, there will be fewer places where Miranda's face goes off into the Uncanney Valley.

Any ideas?

Tried working with contrast values instead?

I haven't done any editing myself so far, just copied a Coalesced.ini from someone else. Is there a documentation of its entries? The modding thread tells me how to edit the thing, but not what. It has lots of weapons-related stuff and character editing, but almost nothing about cosmetic changes.

I'm not sure you got my point, but I meant messing with the settings of your display so that it renders the image differently, including highlights and shadows, enabling you to take different pictures accordingly. Not the ideal solution, but maybe there's some room for improvement according to your wish that way.

That wont help a damn since blacks and occasionally whites are crushed at the processing. Messing your monitor settings will only make those black areas greyer, but wont reveal anything. Properly calibrated monitor should be able to render black details well enough, but when blacks are crushed there is nothing to reveal but more black.

So yeah, Bioware went a biiit overboard with contrast just to get more "cinematic" and frankly quite unrealistic look. In broad daylight or even at the morning or evenings shadows are not that strong anywhere.
