Do we have any relevant data to gain some insight? Or are our assumptions disturbingly confined to simple conclusion jumping?

DAO wasnt filled with linear paths? I sure dont remember a whole lot of openness or exploration in that game.

Jumping to wild conclusions. Business as usual on this forum.

If we had to use relevant data to back up our assertions, the majority of the discussion on the board would not happen.

I'm all for senseless stag banter every now and then, if only to relieve tension, but it's not funny anymore when it walks into calamity howling territory.

They released the gameplay trailer, but most people are referring to the bootlegged vids of the demo they've shown at cons.

Trailer? It's not the one with Varric McAwesomecrossbow and Mrs. pantsareadistraction is it?

Edit: Bleh. It is.

BW has only brought up Kirkwall, no other places. DA2 does sound likes it's going to be restricted

Wouldn't bother me if Kirkwall is a big, varied place.

We know DA2 is going to have a map, so if we are only running around Kirkwall, I would defiantley not enjoy that.  if it was a huge city like Rome from AC Brotherhood,  I wouldnt mind only running around Kirkwall.

Well in the one bootleg trailer with the non-exaggerated gameplay, it does seem rather confined even in the outdoor Blightlands area. Such that even though you're outside, its basically relegated to narrow paths which in the video end up getting clogged with darkspawn.

I'd just like to see some more wide open areas like the Wending Wood in Awakening. For all its faults, I thought the level design was pretty great in Awakening.

I hope the Isabela gets another ship and you get to sail to some of the other coastal areas. Guess I'm getting carried away now!

Wending Woods was pretty cool. I think it will be a combo of a large Kirkwall with many side areas in the city, and a few but interesting places outside of it.

If that is a wide open area to you, I would imagine you're going to get some wide open areas. Companies often constrain demo areas to prevent people from missing what they want them to see.

Obviously though, in the case of DA2, 'tis only a guess.

There was a game made some years ago called "Asteroids". I'm not sure if you've heard of it but It was "disturbingly confined" as well. That game was a complete disaster, why can't game developers learn from the mistakes of the past?

The Blightlands area is no more confined than some of Origins linear areas, particularly considering it's role as a short introductory sequence and demo. It is however a little short for my tastes, still hoping that they have added a different starting point and that the escape sequence takes longer (and thus has some new, less confined, areas).
