When it was first announced, I actually liked the idea of Qatar hosting it. All that expanding to Middle East mumbo jumbo, especially since I've lived in lots of different countries. But, Qatar has no football history. Period. Yes, they do have cash, loads of it in fact. But how can that tiny country hold at least 300,000 people for tourism. Maybe I'm exaggerating...but -shrugs-

Even without the more recent media stories about FIFA corruption there was still plenty going against England (actual bid and presentation aside). Given that it seems that Sepp Blatter and co. have a pattern in choosing host countries (spreading football to the world) it does make the bidding process somewhat redundant. Also reminds me of Eurovision as well for some reason...

You know, local people, except totally thrilled football fans, are not very excited about World Cup. Knowing how brilliant and corruptionless preparations for Sochi 2014 are going on (who was the person decided to keep winter Olympics in subtropics?), most people hope that the end of the world will happen in 2012 and we won't be shamed.

Everyone can tolerate the 130 degree fahrenheit weather of Qatar! you will enjoy the true climate of the earth there:p lol

and as I said before, the income of Qatar is gigantic (120 billion dollars yearly and more) for a small country. They can change their country into heaven until 2022!
