Downloaded and installed DAO from Impulse and when I tried to install the toolset, I got the error "Dragon Age: Origins game install not found"
Have tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling, all failing with the same error.
Any ideas would be helpful.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64
Location of install: C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Electronic Arts\\\\Dragon Age Ultimate

They haven't updated the toolset since releasing the Ultimate edition, right? Maybe you could try renaming the directory to C:\\...\\Dragon Age

I'll check the exact directory names for the normal edition when I get home and edit if needed.

Please keep us updated on whether this fixes things. It seems like other people are having the same problem.

It is indeed just Dragon Age for the normal edition. So try renaming the Dragon Age Ultimate folder to Dragon Age.

Nope. Doesn't work.

Actually, Vista wouldn't let me rename it, so I just Created a new file and moved everything.

Tool set still wouldn't work though so I moved it back.

Edit: I just tried installing the tool set with DA running. Still didn't work. Will continue searching.

Has anything happened with this? I have the same issue (Win 7 x64, bought ultimate off impulse) with the toolkit and I can only find a few scattered reports of this issue. Someone on the impulse forum suggested that it might be a problem with the way impulse modifies the registry when installing the game.

Nope. Same issue. I have gotten nowhere with it. But the registry makes sense.

I believe the problem they were thinking was that the Impulse version doesn't load the registration into the registry, so when you look at "Game" in the Configuration Utility, the game doesn't show up.

I've already fixed that on mine (manually entered the number into the registry) and the game now shows up on the CUtility, but tool set still won't install.

I had hoped that someone from Bioware would have responded by now. Customer Service already blew me off, and I'm beginning to get a little upset. I've bought the damn game twice now (for 360 and PC), and the toolset was one of the reasons I got it for the PC at all. If I can't use it I'm going to be incredibly disappointed in BioWare.

I hear you. I have been trying to find where it is looking for the install location but am not having any luck. I too am rather concerned that somebody from BioWare has not given any form af an answer to this.... I seem to rememer the old BG & NWN days where BioWare actually listened to those who purchase the games.... I guess that is what happens when a great developer gets bought out.

Wow. Ok, installer is running as we speak. No idea what fixed it. I was running the Config tool at the time, but I thought I'd done that before.

Things I've done since I last tried it:
Used the DAUpdater to install a couple mods (I'm betting it's this one that fixed it)
Downloaded DAModder

I would suggest either of those. This site (http://www.dragonagenexus.com/) is a good place to find mods, just be prepared to suffer through a lot of "sexy" mods. Personally, I recommend Dalls_Rescaled Weapons (makes them look more realistically sized).

Also, if the game doesn't show up in the Config tool, you'll probably want to edit the registry.

Ask any questions, I'll try to figure out exactly what made it work.

So where should the path be:

12/12/2010 3:18 PM - Engine.Utilities.DAGameInfo, Error - Couldn't locate Dragon Age install path in registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\BioWare\\Dragon Age, Path

I dont have any path set in my registry

GOT IT!

1) Check where the path is in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age, Path

---> pointed it to my install location.

2) Ran DAO from start menu as administrator

3) Ran configuration utility ---> and saved.

4) Ran Toolset install as admin.... started working!

I have the same issue when I upgraded to a new computer with Windows 7 Pro x64. I copied over the folders with the games (about 15 GB of data) since I didn't want to have to pay to download them again. The program works for me, but cannot find any of the content I purchased and Impulse doesn't recognize that I already downloaded the program. I guess I will have to pay to download again.

Try this: run DAupdater. If it comes back with an error of being able to find the install, look for the registry key I mentioned above. It looks like Impulse is not placing the keys in the correct location. Once the key is in place run the DAO with administrator rights: select configuration. Under one of the file menus there is an option to save. Save it. See if that works for you

You bought it off Impulse? Then I would get in touch with their customer service. Unline EA, they're generally pretty good. See if there's anything they can do before you buy it again.

I had this problem myself, i.e. downloaded from Impulse, toolset reported: "game install not found". I just got it working by making a change to the registry. At:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Bioware\\Dragon Age

Path was set to: D:\\Games\\Dragon Age Ult

This was truncated, so I corrected it and now the toolset installs.
