Yes, that's right. I'm looking for a way to play the game with an unvoiced Shepard, while all other characters remain voiced. Similar to the Warden in DAO, I guess.

Does anyone know - or have an idea? BTW, I'm only concerned with maleShep.

Wouldn't the fact that the animations still play sort of hinder this plan? Or will is that not a concern?

I'd like to play with subtitles, and the animations are part of a realistic visual experience. I just don't want to hear maleShep's voice. That way it's easier to pretend some dumb utterances don't happen and that his tone is less condescending in the romances.

Damn, I didn't think Male Shepard's voice was that bad. I thought it was pretty decent. I'd say just play as female shepard, but I'm guessing you are going for the male romances.

You know, I've been thinking about asking if there's a way to disallow Shepard and the squad mates to use guns and force everyone to use biotics and/or melee attacks. *ponders*

Well, guns are useful but Meer's VO will still suck.

Nah, Meer's a great VA...he does an excellent job as a hanar or volus.  His Shepard just......just....sucks!

OP, i don't think this thread is about turning off shepard's voice as it is protesting on the fact that shepard actually is voiced. Am i correct?

Seriously, every single other game I play has either a silent PC or a PC whose dialogue I can't control. Usually, it's both. Now,, I'll be the first to admit that I hated Meer originally, but I've grown attached to the guy, and Hale does a pretty fine job as well. They still grate on my ears sometimes, but it's better than nothing. Fact is, a sh*t-ton of work went into making Shepard all nice and voiced for you.  Don't like that Bioware went an extra mile to enhance player immersion?

Frankly, if people want to go so far as to request a way to turn off a feature of a game that no doubt cost a huge amount of time and money to feature, maybe that game really isn't for them.

Or having multiple dialogue choices lead to Shepard saying the exact same thing?

Now I've resigned myself to the VO but that doesn't make it any more immersion enhancing.

Ryzaki: I think by that point it is assumed that you would have cottoned to the fact that bottom-right options are renegade in nature. I'm not trying to insult you (and hope you don't take it that way).

Actually, I had one of those moments, too. When I was talking to the Consort after doing her quest, I chose the That's It? option expecting to extort some credits out of here. I'm sure you know by now what I actually got...and once the shock wore off I actually laughed.

Even if it's renegade in nature how does "any means necessary" equal complete douchebag? I'd expected the renegade response to be "sigh" and Shep turns and leaves the two idiots. (Same thing with the consort really).

And given the fact that renegade and paragon make little sense in game and it really is immersion breaking. And frankly annoying on several occassions. (Like getting raped by the Consort). And mindboggling at others (one moment's Mordin's a murder of a whole race the next he's not a killer? Okay then Paragon Shep. )
