The ones that posted in this thread are mostly racist. I don't like racists.

Perhaps some are though there are many like me who simply want justice.  Based upon their actions of the past, the Batarians have proven that the galaxy would be better off without them.

You do realise though that the majority of merc and pirate scum that we have fought in ME and ME2 so far have been humans.

I don't see you feeding humans to your fish :P

P.S good pic.

Humans didn't attack Mindoir, the Batarians did.  The rest of the merc/pirate scum out there are only weapons training while I perfect my skills.

While I do feel sorry for your Shepard's loss, I have to say that crimes of some specific group (terrorists, mercs, slavers) do not apply to those who share the same origin but not the same views and beliefs. At least that's how it works in civilized and tolerant society.

Decent batarians should not pay for what batarian criminals did.

And we're not offering you to recruit a criminal here.

From the perspective of my Shep, she simply can’t distinguish the “honorable” Batarian with those that attacked Mindoir. It this mental barrier which cased her to become “The Butcher of Torfan.” Regardless of whatever the reality is, it is unlikely she will ever except that the Batarians are capable of anything other than genocide.

Why didn't you say so politely from the beginning but started with posting insulting (well, to those who are fond of batarians) motivator instead? If you're roleplaying a Shep who has some kind of psychological problems it's your choice, and I respect those who actually roleplay their characters instead of just pushing 100% paragon/renegade or choosing lines randomly.

It would be great if you in turn could also be respectful towards those who like batarians (or whose Sheps are more open than yours is).

Also I'd like to say that our characters and we ourselves may have different points of view. X's Shepard may dislike someone and the fact he/she is being forced to interact with this certain someone, still X as a player may find this good and interesting because, for example, this helps X further develop Shep's character and the situation is interesting to roleplay. You can take a look -- one of the previous posters has a Colonist Shep IIRC and likes an idea of a batarian squaddie 'cos it can be a source of interesting dialogues and convos, can potentially make Shepard change his/her mind. Or maybe not.

I hope I had been reasonable.

Yeah I wonder if being a colonist will play a big role when it comes to the Batarians. As a Sole survivor a chill runs down my spine when some one mentions Akuse.

Also, let's support the thread a bit by showing some relevant pictures. Yep.

Sorry... you're right in that I should have stated from the beginning of my post that I try to stick vary close to the RP concept I created for my Shep.  To me, it makes the story more interesting and the choices made therein to be more realistic.  Though she has deep hatred of their race due to the events of her past, my Shep is openly friendly to most others reguardless of race, sex, etc.  The background story, to her, is more of an open wound that whenever she is forced to deal with it, her typical response is a cold, calculating rage.

For ME:1, she let the scientists die in Bring down the Sky in order to ensure the Batarian terrorists died.  In her mind, were she to let them escape, what was there to stop them from doing the same thing again.

Personally, I think it's more enjoyable to play a character who, while she may have good intentions, is still fundamentally flawed and is forced to deal with his/her own internal trials.  I tend to think it makes the story more believable.

how has anything that people have posted been insulting to anyone? unless the forumites actually are batarians..... I mean I love Wrex more than any sci-fi sidekick, but when other people say something against krogan I don't accuse them of being racist in real life against actually human beings. that'd be silly.

Yep, I understand both your and your Shepard's reasoning. I just disapprove of storming into X's support thread with questionable content as it may upset those who do really support X.

Also, many posters in this thread are so sour and harsh that it actually seems to me they just hate the race as players using their Shep's pre-ME history as a mere justification. I believe hating virtual characters to be not very, um, healthy?

Well, if you like someone and then are suddenly shown a picture of that someone is being humiliated it is... disquieting.

Must be poor wording or bad word choice, apologies; I didn't mean they're racist IRL. I meant they're racist in-game. Edit: and yeah, I wasn't 100% serious about it yet.

P.S. Really looking forward to Wrex in ME3. I've missed him in the second installment way too much :(

Killing Wrex and thinking he's awesome aren't mutually exclusive :)

I believe there are several reasons, both in-game and gameplay-wise, to have a batarian squaddie in ME3, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up :(

To be honest, I was pretty upset that Wrex died in my original ME:1 run. Still, one of the reasons why I love ME so much is that we all can play it based upon our own idea of who Shepard should be yet in the end, we will all likely have a different experience.

My Shepard's hatred for Batarians, I think, would likely affect her ability to be a success in the Alliance or as a Spectre. Though her actions in the war may have given her fame by some, others would likely consider her a lose cannon.

Still, it would make for some great story ideas were a Batarian available in ME:3.

My Shep would rather they see that she's about to shoot them.  There is a small amount of gratification that comes from seeing the brief moment of terror come into their eyes as they realize they are about to fulfill the measure of their creation.

... ok, that's a bit twisted.  Ignore me.

Oh God no. I hate everything about batarians so much. I hope for the next dlc they let you go to the batarian homeworld and just fly around bombarding hospitals, schools, retirement homes. Even their face is a hideous mockery of the human form. Bioware went through some effort to make a race that is very hateable. Can't we have one alien race that it's totally ok to hate? They're like evil space north koreans/terrorist/mosters. I'm sorry about my long response but I really really loathe the idea of a batarian squadmate.

And then the batarian squadmember does something awesome and people will fawn over him. Just like Legion, who like half the forum threatened to kill if he was recruitable.

You guys are too predictable.
