I was a colonist+war hero, so it would be kinda awkward for my Shepard...

Shepard shot hundreds of geth in ME1 and yet most players [possibly you] seemed to of warmed up to Legion.
What's the difference?

Yeah, but for people like me, who either don't see there background as inhibiting friendly relations with batarians, I would like to have a batarian squadmate.
I really don't even want Shephard and the Batarian to like each other a whole lot, at least, not at the beginning.
I'm hoping he's some sort of Batarian badass who doesn't like Shephard or humans that much, but realizes he needs to help Shephard out because that's the best bet for the galaxy. And then maybe there's a character arc where the batarian overcomes his won rascism, his dispositon improves, etc.
I guess I would like a squadmate that isn't a Shephard fan-boy for once.
Think about HK47, he really resonated with players. But he also never expressed anything but hate towards you/organics:
"Objection... but that technical term does not accurately portray the vast amount of bulbous slushiness present in your bipedal form."
"Sorry master... my optical sensors simply pick up all the water sloshing about in your flesh coating. It is... unpleasant."

I just had a hilarious thought.
Batarian romance, colonist shepard, a squaddie remarks "... do you have stockholm syndrome or something?!"
... it was funnier in my head 8<

I'll admit it, i never thought about having a Batarian Squadmate before but it WOULD be pretty kewl. I think Batarians are badasses and if we get a squadmate that is half as awesome as Garrus then you can sign me up.

Why necro a thread? Look to see when the last post was to know if anybody is actually going to care about what you are going to type.

Asking for a new squadmate is like asking "would you like some money"?
Well, duh.
EDIT: Damn, this is an old thread. Oh well.

hallusinaatti the only reason we got many characters back in me2 is because we wanted them back so i dont see the point in your comment. Plus it dont look like were getting a batarian squad mate unfortunatly unless they hid him from public view but i doubt it, maybe future dlc squad mate? my hopes are high for that.

I would love one, mabye one that was personally affected by the events in arrival. Batarian DLC make it happen Bioware.

All the batarians that are in the mass effect games are all evil because they have been thrown out of their homeworks by their government, the hegemony, because they are so bad. And the hegemony keeps the potentially awesome and cool and nice batarians on their homeworks because they are paranoid as **** and seem to like the negative attention they get because of the bad batarians. So yeah I would like a batarian squadmate as long as he is cool and badass. And angry so tensions build up but Shepard and him become best of friend by the end, kind of like how javik is cold at the start and doesn't shake shepards hand but he does near the last part of the game.

A batarian squad mate would be amazing. I mostly just love them for their ruthless and advanced weaponry.
