Sure make it optional. But if you kill the batarian then the Reapers win.Posted Image

I'm down with it. He can be our tech expert. Oh wait...

I want my ignorant Shep to ask him about his eyes and which set I should stare at.

You have to look at all eyes for else!!

Me personally? I would hate to see a Batarian considering we have so many other good squad mates to choose from, and the fact I simply hate Batarians doesn't help much either. Just saying. :P

I've got a colonist (who'd work with a batarian), but I'm so putting that banner in my sig anyway.

I would even though I have a war hero.

Well then..... nothing to say to that, okay maybe it should at least be optional, but I still support the idea

Meh, the Batarian in question better be either super useful, or have some really important information.

Here's a scenario to introduce batarian squaddie:

-At some point, Shepard gets captured (oh no). Lalala S/he gets stuck with a Batarian. Shep can do the following:

-Kill batarian because s/he can't trust him NOT to mess up escape attempt

-Use batarian, and then kill him

-Use batarian, and then let him go

-Use batarian, and go "ohey, you're useful and/or bringing you along would cause EPIC LOLZ among the council, how'd you like to be in my squad?"

I dunno, just my two cents XD

Also, a motivational type take on the banner:

I think we could use some guddamn terrorists. Put their asteroid-dropping skills to use against the Reapers.

A Batarian squad mate would be great as long as there is some sort of conflict between him and Shepard. Making the squadmate mandatory on the mission like Miranda and Jacob would allow for such a thing. What about Vorch or Volus?

A) Too dumb

B) Not built for it

Really, the only race that we haven't had that are both clever and physically cut out for it are the batarians. I support an elcor artillery platform though.

Why wouldn't a Colonist/Ruthless/War Hero want a Batarian squadmate? It would be perhaps THE best opportunity for character development!

Well, a vorcha would be a perfect meat shield (they're so friggin' annoying the enemy would empty clips into it to make it shut up) and a volus... well, they're so hilariously combat-inept that the enemy would be rofling too hard to notice everyone else shooting them.

My "canon" Shepard is a colonist AND ruthless, and did a certain renegade thing in BDtS. She's practical though and would see the use of a Batarian if the situation presented itself. Plus, I feel as though the council would FREAK OUT if you had a batarian with you, and I want to see that happen. Dear Bioware: MAKE IT HAPPEN.

I've been thinking about this a lot. Why can't we have a ruthless batarian squadmate in ME3? Garrus had one in his team so why can't we?

My Ruthless Colony born Shephard says NO! They are the only alien species I have no connection with and show NO MERCY for. They anger me just by talking. They sound like mini Reapers.

What would you all as players say, though? Many forumites here name their Shepards as a reason not to have a batarian. I appreciate the fact that you roleplay your characters; but you are not your Shepards.

Your Shepard may distrust and hate someone you as a player consider an interesting and worthy character.

P.S. I vaguely recall old forum discussions prior to ME2 about Legion: some said it would be impossible to take this squaddie to the cities/Citadel, some said Geth are enemies and here's the end of story, some said they'd airlock it. Hmm.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up but... Batarian squadmate = do want.

I remember lurking on the forums a month or two before release and saw these things about Legion:

"OMG TALI WILL NEVER ALLOW IT!"

"GETH DON'T WORK WITH ORGANICS"

"I'LL SPACE IT! GETH ARE BAD!"

"HOW WILL YOU TAKE IT OFF THE NORMANDY!? IT'LL GET SHOT!"

Yeah, we all know how that worked out. :P

Basically, if Bioware wants a batarian squadmate they'll write a way for one to join. It will surely be more believeable than how Legion was recruited anyway.

I hope Mass Effect 3 includes some sort of quest to ally all the various factions of the galaxy against the Reapers. Do you accept the Batarians as cannon fodder against the Reapers, or commit mass genocide against them to prevent their interference? (and because we all want to)

If this were the case, a squadmate per faction would make sense. Maybe recruitment/loyalty missions could be tied in to faction loyalty?

Yes, fraction loyality isn't a bad idea.

But no, not everyone wants to [commit mass genocide/do something nasty to Batarians].
