The comments are just disgusting. Yeesh... this is totally silly, guys. I would be shameful if I were a Starcraf 2 fan.

Exactly how I'm feeling right now. 95% of the SC2 fans were mature in the earlier matchups now it's just like 45%.

You'd think players of a real-time strategy game, which requires careful planning, quick thinking, and an overall significant amount of brainpower, would at least be able to comment intelligently.

Unfortunately, there is no correlation between the ability to hotkey and tact.  However, the higher the emotional investment in a certain outcome, the higher the probability of putting one's foot in his mouth.  People do stupid things when they're psyched for victory, myself included.

However, I think those comments have turned me off from multiplayer forever.  Oh well.  At least I like SC2's single-player campaign enough to want to buy the expansions.  I can still be a fan without, you know, being one of those fans.

Signed up and voted for ME2, if for no reason other than Shepard gets more chicks than Jimmy.

HAH!

Never laughed so hard since a looong time. In Most RTSs the Strategy part is only there because they somewhat have to gather ressources which to spend on their clickfests. Actually the major part of those fast paced RTSs is about spamming the right unit at the right time until the other one starts spamming the counter unit so you have to spam another counter, which is essentially totally the opposite to what is generally referred to as "strategy". The one with the best spam ends up winning. High quality games with innoventive uses or *shudder* even tactics (strategies are simply not possible in a game which makes unit-spam so feaseable) are a real rarity.
CnC is just the same, only it used to be more fun back then when the units still had character and the games nice campaigns to play through (thanks EA Image IPB ).

The only games which you can expect people that play it to be somewhat intelligent are slow-paced strategy/tactic games (R.U.S.E. for example is sometimes extremely slow-paced, especially on the bigger maps (read: gigantic), making most of the match into a "Counterstrategy the strategy you think he is using" for each player, making strategical unit building actually more numerous than actually engaging in combat. And then throw in active disinformation options (the ruses) and you got something where thinking makes you actually win and being dumb makes you lose, at against any decent player!).

That said, I guess most of the trolling over there is due to them not understanding our memes.

I throwed in some taunt about "ASSUMING CONTROL OF THIS POLL / SCII is too primitive / I know you feel this" and they may have misunderstood this as an insult instead of the little homage as it was meant too (smily should have made things easier to understand, but again, talking about intelligence ... ). I think three comments later someone referred to my comment and called me a troll/idiot for saying such stupid things.

I dare to say some of them just misunderstand us, ... the rest are just mindless idiots and/or spammers.

Neofelis, they just thumb down anything ME2-related, they didn't take it as an insult.

I know, but for my own sanity, let me pretend their is some rational reason behind all this, or you might see me bombing up people next time you see the news Image IPB

Just found some videos that might help us. If they do then all we need is a nice promoter :)

It speaks volumes the type of person who loves StarCraft, to make StarCraft II even in this "competition". ME2 is the superior game, so is most of the other games that StarCraft II beat.

I think both mass Effect 2 and StarCraft II deserve to win. Mass Effect 2 is probably one of the best games ever made but BioWare didn't polish the PC version enough and the result is a big mess of minor annoyances that bug me too much. I didn't play the console version of ME2 so I can't judge that, so instead I just voted for whatever I think is the best PC game. That's StarCraft II.

If BioWare had released a patch to finally include menu shortcuts, I would have voted Mass Effect 2. I remember playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time, pressing J, pressing J again, then pressing U, and finally being pissed because I realized BioWare had forgotten to include such basic gameplay as a menu shortcut. I got even more pissed when I couldn't open my mail by double-clicking it.

The best way to win on the Videogame Deathmatch forum is to be polite and not attack SC 2 for random reasons. Instead, emphasize on why you enjoy ME 2 and want it to win.

I don't see any reason to insult SCII either. It's a great game, not as good as ME2 in my opinion, but great.

Hey, Phaedon. If you have a second, I just have a quick question.

How do you use custom profile pictures? I've tried uploading pictures to an album, but I didn't see an option to use them as a profile picture. Am I just being an ignorant idiot or something because usually I figure these out easily.

Thank you for any assistance.

Uh oh, a wave of huskateers, I had best go on the G4TV forum and put some of the trollers in their place (politely of course, and maybe with some of my terrible jokes! :)

Nah, just ignore them and vote for ME2 ^_^  It's not like there aren't any intelligent SC2 fans, we're just being outscreamed at the moment.

Any game is bound to have its share of internet idiots.  SC2 is a huge online multiplayer game with a larger fanbase than ME2 (sadly), so proportionally, it has more idiots.  Unfortunate--the game deserves to be represented more favorably than by a bunch of trolls.  I didn't even like RTS until I started playing StarCraft II a few months ago; it really is a very good game.

I played the first Starcraft, and enjoyed that, I got Starcraft 2 but haven't been on it much, it was good, but I was ME2-ing out at that time. I am an RPG/Bioware gamer though, so RTS' don't usually do it for me. The 'huskateers' annoy me. Have they no minds of their own? They are just doing what some guy says who they have never even met before. And I bet most of them haven't even played ME2, it sure sounds like it.

It's alright though, phaedon and I are trying to 'hold the line!' ;)

Sorry to break it to you, but the Blizzard community is one of, if not the biggest, community in the world. Having their games be a national sport in a country proves this. :/

I think it's a lost cause, but it's admirable that you're trying :)

As for the Huskateers, we subscribed to Husky because...ya know...we love StarCraft II.  And he...casts StarCraft II.  So...yeah.   Just a guess, but most subscribers to his channel probably would've voted for SC2 regardless of what Husky says had they stumbled upon the vote on their own.  The only thing he really does is tip them off for anything SC2 related, including votes like these.

Sorry if I'm beating the point to death.  But I've enjoyed Blizz, their games, and the community that springs up around them (think of the trolls as the pit in the cherry), and I don't like seeing it poorly represented.  Husky has over 300,000 subscribers.  I don't see 300,000 trolls in those threads.  The vast majority of us went to the site, voted, and left it at that.

I suppose you're right. *sigh* I miss the good old days when there were massive standoffs in the middle of the map and skirmishes were more than rock-paper-scissors with tanks.

See?  This is why I don't play multiplayer anymore.  You can't turtle in SC2.  Oh no, it's more like a Monty Python episode stuck on fast-forward: SPAM SPAM SPAM EGGS SPAM BACON SPAM AND A SIDE OF SPAM (but I don't like spam) SHADDAP.  I miss turtling.  I miss my guardians.  I miss dark archons. (God, I sound like those guys that whine about the inventory.)

That sounds fun, actually.  Now all I gotta do is find the time and money to invest in that sort of game.

That said, I guess most of the trolling over there is due to them not understanding our memes.

Okay, you can't browse the internet for longer than five minutes without running into a Harby quote.  What, do these people ONLY log on to Bnet?

If only there was a way to make voting available solely to people who have played both games.  You know, people who could approach this sort of thing with appropriate knowledge.  I mean, if there was a poll where I had to choose between a game I'd played and a game I hadn't, I'd sit it out.
