Hello !
I have a little problem in the game :when I begin to run,the footstep begin with very rapid sequence before slowing down and becoming normal, and are not
really in sequence with their feet.It looks like the engine is
attempting to match the two up, and I don't think it's an audio hardware
problem.

I tried everything (turning audio hardware off,etc...) but I still got this problem since I buyed the game.
When I look carefully, under Shepard, there is a lot of footprint that appears, even Shepard only make 2 steps.
Can somebody help me ?
It really ruins the game experience ...:alien:

And also,I'm french, and it's late for me (:P) so please apology my english, which is not perfect at all =]

Give us your specs and we'll see what we can find the cause of the problem.

Exact driver revision for both video card and sound card?

DirectX version?

The thread I pointed you towards contains screenshots on how to obtain that information.

Oops,sorry :P

Video Card : 8.17.12.6658 (it was the latest yesterday,so I think it's still the last)

Sound Card : 5.12.1.2020

DirectX : 11

I don't know if it's what you needed,if it's not,I apologize.

First thing to try is download and install DirectX 9.0c from Microsofts website. Steam -should- have installed it, but Steam has been known not to do the things it should be doing. DirectX 11 is not backwards compatible enough for ME1's requirements.

Edit : That dit nothing...I download the Directx 9 from June 2010,and installed it,and I still got the bug.

Just wondering : maybe the problem is related to steam ? Who knows..
Well,it's been nearly one year since it's here.Maybe I should celebrate ? :P

Do you have an internal/onboard soundcard you can swap to that you can try? The sound engine in ME1 is really precarious. I've not had particularly good experience with the Creative drivers either.

I missed your response, sorry. Under the config utility, have you tried swappnig the defult sound device from hardware to software?

eshrafel => Well actually,at the beginning,I had only a chipset (a not very good one) and I recently changed to a new soundcard, and I still have the problem...

Bogsnot1 => Yes,but that didn't work either...
Maybe that's not a sound bug...I don't know.I recently saw a weird thing.
While I was walking on sand,or dirt,in a planet,I start walking, and stop directly. And under Shepard,a lot of footprints appeared, but I wasn't walking ! So maybe it's not sound related, but engine related or something like that...

Giev these video drivers a try. The latest drivers from nvidia have been known to cause strange problems with older games such as ME1 and ME2 in the past.
These are the french drivers, 258.96 revision (known to work with ME1)
