If it confirmed/denied, if peacefully talking yourself out of combat will garner precious XP?

Same query about other similar activities.

You know, it would make sense that if you have made yourself a name that people would rather not fight you. In this kind of games most of the people don't know the concept of surrernder or running though..

I can't think of many situations in Bio games where you can actually talk your way out of a fight.

"And people actually voluntarily attack you?"

You realise I said "can't think of many situations" and not "there are no situations"?

I am Morngrang the destroyer, breaker of cities and bane of armies rivers of blood have flown from my blade and the chantry name me as the plague that walks. Demons bow at my throne and the darkest deeds of the human heart are my meat and drink, and yet you a back alley cutpurse would seek to stand in my path of destruction. Flee worm or face my INFERNAL RAGE!

Come on lads we can take him.

You do see a lot of this kind of thing in rpgs dont you, maybe our heroes making his own small contribution to natural selection in thedas.

Maybe a handful in each. The point is that combat is a very big part of all BioWare games unlike, say, PS:T, which has less than ten (four?) obligatory fights.

I remember talking my way out of quite a few minor fights in the Mass Effect series.

Sorry I didn't mean it to be accusatory or anything, I was just going to list a few examples, & didn't think. Sorry:(

I don't really need xp from avoiding fights. My reward is usually that I get to AVOID THE DAMN FIGHT. That, and the locals don't wind up thinking I'm some sort of trigger-happy scumbag.

Although, I would like to see more situations where someone urges you not to fight or not to kill someone and it winds up coming back later to bite you in the arse. Why is it only when everyone is saying "you should kill that guy" and you decide to let them LIVE that it bites you in the arse?

More arse-biting all around please.

Yes, you're right, I'll edit

The suggestion above is really good though, people should be punished for killing people. It's only fair

It should depend on how they see XP, is it your experince in fighting arts? Then you shouldnt get it, but seeing as you get XP for quests/lockpicking, I support it. In my own made mods, I alwayses reward XP for succesful skillchecks, though I suouse in some regards to balancing you can see it as "Be good at figting, kill them and earn XP" and "Nor so good at fighiting, I use my superior social skills and avoid the fight", though my support always lie in getting some XP for everything you succed in wich depends on your characters skills (and this became a longer wall of text then I had plannes, sorry all).

I've always seen it as overcoming the fight, some use a silver sword some use a silver tongue.
