I would love to go through the (very helpful!) steps at the start of this topic but the servers have been temporarily unavailable for at least 12 hours. I'm almost exclusively a console gamer, so getting locked out of a game because the developers' server is down is a new experience for me. It is unbelievably frustrating.

If I don't wish to go through the steps helpfully submitted above will this problem resolve itself when the servers are available again? Or is my game nuked?

If you're connected to Xbox Live and the DA servers are available, then the game should be able to authorize your DLC. Without following the described steps, however, you will not have offline licenses on your box, so those two conditions will be required for you to play the game. I'm not sure how stable the servers have been recently, but back at launch I wouldn't have wanted to to bet that DA server availability would coincide with my available play time.

I agree with you 100% it's the same problem I'm having

How does this help people who can't log into the server at all?

Until you are able to log in, it does'nt help at all. Unless there is something wrong on your end you should be able to log in soon though, the servers usually dont stay down for long. Matter of fact the of the entire 150+ hours I have logged in Origins, the servers were really only down one time.

I assume the servers are down today? I havent played Origins in about 2 weeks. Keep trying and if you need any other help or anything then please come back and post here or PM me. I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Yeah, this is a bug issue and we are certainly working on it. Thankfully we have some hardcore community members (looking at you switzki) who put up some fantastic steps as a work around at the beginning of this thread. Hopefully we will get this fixed but until the: switzki, my cudos.

Just how long is "temporarily unavailable"? I haven't been able to play any of my saves for 2 days cause the servers are always down. I only have a window of time to play and its in the evenings. When something says "Downloaded" it should be downloaded. Not all this digital rights crap. Thanks for a nice looking title screen. Been looking at it for the last 30 minutes.

Well, 11 hours have passed and I still can't get on an EA Server. I'm loving it.

Another 14 hours and the servers are still down. Keep it up! Let's shoot for a week.

You guys can't play dlc? My game usually says it can't access the servers, and the only problem I have is my character page never updates on the website.

Can't play because of the DLC items associated with the account. It has to verify with the EA servers. This post has a solution to fix the problem but it doesn't help at all when you don't have connectivity to the server to re-download the DLC. So I can't load any of my characters that have those DLC items because the digital rights are on the EA servers. A 60+ hour campaign been put on almost permanant halt because of digital rights. I have a $60 game that bascially plays the title screen. It was fun while it lasted.

I'll post back in another 10 hours cause I'm feeling pretty confident they still won't be up.

Damn Darkonos, I'm really sorry to hear that. I dont know what the hell is going on right now. I dont think I can load mine up to see if it happens to me without getting the new patch and I dont want that yet (if ever).

To anyone reading this topic, are you currently having this problem as well?

I'm having the same problem. I've actually been playing the expansion on my xbox (DVD, not DLC) for the last four hours no problem even with the server down. It wasn't until I downloaded the contents of the DVD to the hard drive that I got the digital rights error (I have Promo Pack 1). I haven't tried the fix mentioned in this forum (I just now came across it looking for answers to this ridiculous problem) but I may give it a shot here...

You are absolutely correct. The best you can do is be prepared to fix it immediately when the servers come back.

switzki wrote...
Unfortunately, this fix can only be applied when the DA servers can be reached. That's what I meant when I said it makes for a frustrating user experience. In order to ensure that you can play when the DA servers aren't available, you need to do something obscure when the DA servers are available. You have to fix the problem before you know that it's a problem, which means that most people are just going to get a rude surprise when they try to play when the DA servers are unreachable.

Not quoting to be annoying, just highlighting that it's the same problem now as it was at launch. I wasn't able to play the game for more than about six hours total during the first week because (a) I didn't realize that I could fix this problem by re-downloading and (B) the servers were down so often that troubleshooting was inconvenient. Online servers dictating offline play for a single-player game is a clumsy arrangement.

This is ridiculous. I had part of the DLC (Warden's Keep, Blood Dragon Armor, and Stone Prisoner) on an old xbox that died. Got a new xbox, downloaded the DLC again and can no longer play the game offline. I went through the steps listed at the beginning of this post (three times, actually, one of which was with a xbox rep on the phone) and it still doesn't work. What's the point in buying a single player game if you can't play the effing thing offline?? I transferred the damned licenses to the new xbox, to no avail - the DLC still shows as corrupt. GRRRR!

Hmm, I'm retarded and did'nt read your entire post. I assumed you did'nt have the rights transfered. I am stumped on this. This process worked like a charm for me so I have no idea what could be wrong.

Possibly Switzki will check back in and have an idea of whats going on.

This is completely ridiculous. I did the "fix" at the beginning of the thread and it was working fine. I downloaded Awakenings, played it a bit and when I wanted to go back to an earlier DAO game, it's now telling me the items are unavailable again.

The DA servers have been unavailable for the last few nights.

Completely p!ssed about this.

Does this also work with normal DLC? I'm having a similar problem because I recently got a new X-Box 360 (old one was murdered by the red ring) and now all the DLC I got on my old 360 refuses to work on my new one unless I'm connected to the internet. I'm not willing to delete the DLC I have unless I get some sort of conformation that Bioware's not going to try and make me pay for it all again when it's their screwy system that's at fault.

<--- Buys single player games for a reason. Namely, the fact that they don't require 24/7 internet connection. Right . . .

Wolvenrunner, anything you buy on xbl is linked to your account, once you buy it xbl will never ask you to buy it again, no matter how many times you delete it.

This thread might be just what you need, I did it and have'nt had a problem since. 1 thing to keep in mind though, if you bought a new XBOX instead of having Microsoft "fix" yours you will need to transfer the DLC "licenses"  to the new system, you may have already done this. If not, this link takes you directly to the licenses portion of XBOX.com.

So, this has been going on for at least four months.....and still no fix? Doesn't matter if there is a work around or not if the servers are never up long enough to do it. Sucks that a piece of crappy to begin with dlc is preventing me from playing the game that I have now invested over $100 in. At this point I'd pay that much just to be able to tell BioWare what they can do with that little Memory Band
