forrealz? Leliana, Morrigan, Wynne, Bethany, Aveline, and Isabela are all humans.  I liked the Witch Hunt DLC just for the fact we got a enjoyable female dalish elf in our group, i actually cared less about Morrigan.

BW seems more diverse with Males, Zevran, now this mystery elf and Varric.  Is it just a coincidence or does BW feel humans fit their female characters.

Um.... Liara is not human; Tali is not human; Samara is not human... pretty sure I'm missing some other chars...

First post btw. How's it going people?

Sigrun came rather late in the game, at least the way I played Awakening. She didn't even get to become a Grey Warden because I picked her up last and a bug prevented her from going through the ritual. Nice job there Bioware! Velanna, well, I didn't mind her, but I played through with a Dalish Elf so I could identify with her feelings.

Going further back, there's plenty of nonhuman females in NWN and BG. All the female LIs in those games are elves of one sort or another, incidentally, which is probably why both DAO female LIs were human. I was pulling for a dwarf, myself.

And from KotOR, of course, we've got Mission Vao and Juhani.

But he only brought up Dragon Age. I think the conjecture is pretty obvious.

Of the announced characters thus far, we know of five human females, two human males, and two non-human males. This is not counting who ever the templar blessing lady is, or the Viscount who I am not sure we meet.

As I already pointed out thus far in the Dragon Age universe there are 12 female companions thus far.

DAO: Leliana, Morrigan, Wynne, and Shale (Shale is a girl btw).
DA Journeys: Martine
DAA: Sigrun, Velanna, and Mhairi
DA Witch Hunt: Ariane
DA2: Bethany, Isabela, and Aveline

Four of those 12 (depending if you include Shale or not) are non human. One Golem/Dwarf (including Shale), 2 Elves, and 1 Dwarf.

These are all within the DA Universe thus far. 4 out of 12 is 1/3 or 33%. Thats quite a high ratio.

EDIT:
Id love Bioware to get Claudia Christian to play a companion. Ivanova is god!

Shale is not a girl while in the pary so should not count towards your tally

I'm slightly confused by this. Do you mean golems are sexless and so she ceased to be one, despite having the personality of a dead female dwarf?

Maybe so. But then he's really talking about just the DA team, not "Bioware".

And I still think that what Bio did in earlier fantasy games is highly relevant to DAO's characters. They had been called out on the whole female elven LI thing often. I think way before DAO was released David Gaider said that they were considering just making this a Bio signature and so all the LIs in DA would be elves too, but I'm pretty sure he was joking.

Is there a notable difference between the personalities of dead female dwarves and living female dwarves?

Shale is a female.

You find that out if you take her with you to the Anvil of the Void. She was once Shayle of House Cadash and she became a Golem.

Her personality and disposition remain that of Shayle the female Dwarf thus even tho she no longer has the sexual equipment she still counts as female IMO.

Well, she says she is. So either you're questioning the defintion, which would be a reasonable point if a bit wierd, or you skipped that bit, in which circumstance you're making the case that all things you don't know about are untrue.
