This has probably already been adressed in this forum, but i'm still curious as to the answer. Right after you go up the incline from the dig site on eden prime, but just before the cutscene of saren killing nihlus, there is a small shed with two scientists inside. When you talk to them, the woman says "thank the maker!".

Maybe i'm missing something here, but is the chantry an established religious institution in citadel space? Anyone?

Dragon age explore the old times of earth while Mass effect is in the future, oh i forgot to write that i saw Duncan shaving his beard on Illium (its all part of the same world).

Remember the ogre statue on kasumis loyalty mission as well.

Oh yeah and that statue of liberty head in Kasumi's loyalty mission is the same one from Deus Ex. Did I mentioned JC Denton is in this game?

Seeing as Mass Effect came out several years before DA:O did, I think that it is just a coincidence.

It's more likely a Star Wars reference. In IV C3P0 says that, iirc it's when he's getting the oil bath on Tatooine.

I thought that it was a Babylon 5 reference.

It's just an old-timey way of saying "Thank God!" Thank the lord, thank the maker, thank heaven, praises be, etc. etc.

You may have something here. No civilizations in the course of human history have believed in an omnipotent maker. The idea was first presented in DA:O.

Should this include some sarcasm?  I mean Christianity, Judaism, Islam?

Questioning if a certain post is sarcastic kind of ruins the joke.

All this speculation and no-one believes the Missionaria Protectiva had a hand in it?

Damn kids these days.

Bless the Maker and his water.

Bless the coming and going of Him.

May His passage cleanse the world.

May He keep the world for His people.

Seriously though, I imagine she's just some sort of 22nd century Unitarian.

I'm pretty sure there is religion in the Mass Effect Universe (Ashley mentioned something about believing in God when chatting about her family), so it may just be the one of the religions, or even the same sect. There's a thousand different religions today (and even the Elderscrolls had a variety of gods/goddesses/demigods/saints as a religious hodgepodge), so why not?

It would've been pretty funny if you could run into the Chantry Mother though.

Chantry Mother: No, you may not free the murderous Ch... What are you doing with that axe??
