I agree with knight commander Oblivion is thew best by far and large because there is only you and you are incontroll of your own destiny plus you have your castle the strong hold but right now the game I like to play is D.A. otherthan than that I only wish they came out with another oblivion game to pick up where the other one left off. your friend Elishiva

For me, Dragon aGe hands down. Oblivion for me was nice a t start, but he conversation and level up system didn't really do it for me, it annoyed me to see the world pause when talking with someone, and for me, I prefer a driven story game liek dragon age over sandbox games like Oblivion. In the end tough, it comes down to individual preferences.

Why would you post this in the Dragon Age forums when most answers are going to be Dragon Age?

Not always as other people have all played oblivion to death while waiting for es5 and got into dragon age as been 4 years now.

which is a really good game but you always need to keep your options open dont you think??

For me, it's Morrowind (the game before Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls series), but I'm biased. I know that's not an option, but I'm making it one.

Also, posting this here is going to get a lot of Dragon Age answers, just as if you posted this on the Oblivion forums you'd get a lot of those answers (and more Daggerfall, Arena, etc. answers). I wager if you post it on the Sacred 2 forums... well, you get the pattern.

Simple answer -- you're wrong to compare the games. Either has its strengths and its weaknesses, but you just can't pick one that's better than the other.

Compared to the writing, Dragon age Orgins makes oblivion's script look like an eight year olds sloppy homework assingment.

Like for example:

Jayred ice veins: "They say the gatekeepers magic! Well I don't believe in magic!"

My character: *facepalm followed by fireball attack*

Depends on your tastes in games. Oblivion is very open ending sandbox type rpg. Dragon Age is like playing a movie that has multiple endings (same is true with all Bioware games) and i've never played Sacred 2, so I wouldn't know about that one.

You can't just throw types of games like that out and get a "This > that" answer, they're all amazingly awesome in their own way.

Strangely I agree with Sky Shadowing, I loved Morrowind, but just couldn't get into Oblivion at all. So would say DA as i've never tried Sacred 2. But only because Morrowind wasn't an option.....

It's like comparing cheese, butter and yoghurt and asking which is the better milk product.

What a ridiculous question. Oblivion is a high-budget freeform/sandbox RPG, Dragon Age is a high-budget, fairly linear story-driven party-based tactical RPG and Sacred 2 is a low(er) budget hack and slash game with a possible multiplayer focus.

Neither game is better than the other because they're all different.

Whew! I'm not alone. I love Morrowind. I still love it. I couldn't get into Oblivion either, and, as I purchased both Oblivion and Dragon Age at the same time; it's pretty obvious which game I prefer of the two. It may even supersede Morrowind. It mainly depends on when I can get Alistair into my tent...

I had sacred 2 for a while, it doesnt deserve to be beside TES or DA IMO

And agreed on Morrowind. Amazing. imagine a DA game that long... drools

If TES had romances they would be entirely perfect

You're not forced to do the plotline. You can just run around and kill stuff; You can't do that in Dragon Age.

What? You suggested the 3 games, not me.

Haven't played Sacred 2. As for Oblivion and DA, I really find it hard to compare them since they are quite different. They both have their merits:

Dragon Age has a better main story and deeper characters (and a good amount of voice actors!).

Oblivion meanwhile gives you a lot of freedom, has better sidemissions, and (mainly thanks to its predecessors) is set in a land which is far richer in lore and history. (Nirn>Thedas).

It's probably better to compare DA with Mass Effect and Oblivion with Fallout 3.

Don't be put off Morrowind because of the graphics! Since I enjoyed Oblivion so much I played TES:3 to see if it was as good. And it was. Both great games. Also playing Morrowind will allow you to understand some of the lore in Oblivion.

I dont like first person view so have to say dragon age, though oblivion can be played as third person but pretty sloppy

Oblivion is basically a revamped Morrowind (with a worse story). I give it credit for going all the way with VO and pioneering console DLC, but that's it. Because it was the first (of this generation), doesn't mean it's the best.
