[The Bard From Hell]

Ok, my Dalish elf's first girlfriend is a companion in DA2. Oh come on, that overlong stare when the Dalish Warden leaves is a bit... Too long. May be just me though. An is it my impression, or is there no Merrill LI OMG** threads yet?

I would expect more  "OMFG why did you change her bioware?" and "WTF wrong with her face?"

As soon as updated pictures hit the community, I expect the word fugly to be used in the first hour no matter what she looks like.

She's an elf, though. From what I've seen, most people have a thing for elves and probably would be too busy looking at the elven ears to look at the face.

Because it appears as if it was a mistranslation on the OP's part, not the magazine's. BioWare specifically said Fenris isn't a mage, but they didn't say anything about Merrill.

They also didn't talk about the concept of Fenris when we got that before his reveal, either. They waited until they officially announced him.

Because people truly want it to happen and they happen love their returning characters, especially those they feel didn't get enough of the spotlight in previous releases.

I'm not sure why I want it to be true myself.... Maybe because it might be one of the more interesting characters that could return in DAII, considering she's specifically from an origin tale. An imported Dalish Warden save file could very much change her entire (or at least early) atmosphere in the game to at least three different ways:

• If the Dalish Warden destroyed the Archdemon and survived, she could be a much more upbeat and proud character and possibly a bit easier to get along with.
• If the Dalish Warden killed the Archdemon and was sacrificed, she could be proud, but somber with the loss.
• If the save file wasn't from the Dalish Origin, she would most likely be in the most depressive state of the three and would be harder to perk up and would definitely be a bit of work to get any sort of friendly relationship going. (Maybe not so hard, but noticably more than the other two.)

This is all hypothetical, of course. I wouldn't be surprised if my theory shot a little higher than what Bioware actually has planned should she actually be in DAII as a companion. But at least I was able to put those hypotheses on the table.

Because BioWare took the time to correct the part of the preview that wasn't true. Moreover, more than one person got the magazine, which is how we found out the correct translation.

What correct translation ? It is impossible mistranslating the sentence:

Fenris (Magier): Ein düsterer neuer Begleiter, von dem derzeit nur diese Konzeptgrafik vorliegt. Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw bezeichnet Fenris als "einen ernsthaften Typen, der schnell zur Sache kommt."
( that is taken directly from the list of mentioned companions )

And considering that another German website also claimed that Fenris is a mage he error in the communication between Bioware and whoever did the interviews.
Combined with the fact that Bioware revealed the class of all other companions but did not do the same with him I am starting to believe that we are up for a surprise regarding him.

Sorry but I have to defend my honor and even though my English is not as good as it should be it is not so bad that I would make a mistake translating something that simple.
