I'm guessing Fenris has a unique specialization similar to an arcane warrior. He's probably warrior with a few unique spells.

Assuming Merrill is actually a companion, this is the most likely scenario; perhaps sending her with Hawke is the next part of whatever plan Flemeth has.

But I just don't see Merrill as a blood mage. Even though Keeper is not returning in DA II, she could perhaps have something similar. My reasoning; we do not have the Keeper specialization, because the Dalish would not be willing to part with such knowledge to Shems, not even trusted allies.

But one thing no one has discussed is that like Bethany, Merrill is an apostate. Sure, the Chantry generally doesn't bother with Dalish mages, but if she's walking right into Kirkwall, a Templar stronghold, they would very likely detain her. If they were feeling generous.

Blood magic isn't totally uncomon under elves, so she likely can be a bloodmage, or at least use some bloodmage abilitys

blood magic is old magic. blood itself was used as a means to power 'normal' spells. it wasnt until the magisters found that they could perform unique spells that it was used for such magic.

I also remember morrigan telling my warden that some would consider her ritual to be blood magic.

A blood mage who still worshipped the old gods in the comics used blood to HEAL gleam the main character.

Finn used ariannes blood to scry in witch hunt. A 'grey area' ritual.

I wonder if blood magic wasnt all that sinister to begin with, rather its use was corrupted by demons and /or the magisters.

also in the review where it mentioned he being a companion itd said that she used blood magic to break a barrier near some altar where the amulet given by flemeth was to be placed.

Same place everyone did Watts, there was a German magazine that stated that Merrill is going to be a companion etc. etc. The validity of the article is under dispute due to it also making the claim that Fenris will be a mage which was quickly denied by Mr. Gaider.

blackout62. The article wasnt all that bad. It did mention marethari sending merrill with you to a place full of undead enemies and provides a pic of hawke fighting said minions. So at the very least she is a temporary companion....until it mentions the keeper tells her to accompany hawke. So hey lets hope she is a companion.

Interesting to note the devs confirmed the mistake about fenris yet force mage was also mentioned. Mayhaps this isnt the third mage spec? Or said to throw us off.

The news of merrill being a companion and mamma hawkes name being leandrah (cant remember spelling) were the only things not corrected by devs.

But if they weren't corrected that doesn't mean they are true, right? Maybe we are reading too much into their answers sometimes...

But that article seems interesting (even if it might have mistakes), i wish i could read it :(

I believe that if merril will be a companion, she will have a unique tree of magic abilities, like isabela as her unique talent tree, and I think that it will no be a blood mage tree. Bllod magic is a spec that we can teach our companion (or at least I hope), so it will be useless to put a blood magic tree. Havin announced the three mage spec as spirit healer, blood mage and force mage, I think Merril's unique tree will be based on keeper's magic, if she really returns as a companion

This ^^, everybody keeps talking about how Merrill (if a companion) won't have any keeper spells, she'll have her own unique tree like all the other companions and this will be based on dalish magic I hope.

She is lovely!  Beautiful eyes... very nice eyebrows... Well defined "high cheekbones," and the bald head (colored reddish brown) is a nice touch!  Very nice! ;)

I really like the facial structure of elves in Dragon Age.  The forehead, the eyes, the cheekbones.  I hope with the new engine, we have more variety as far as lips,  and hairstyles that will allow the elves' ears to show.  Nonetheless, that rendering would make a lovely elf, minus the lips.

*I really like Jack's high cheekbones in ME2."

P.S. I am still overjoyed at the hint that there is a possibility that a "DALISH" elf will be a companion.

There's nothing to like about Jack's looks. She's made a huge effort to look disgusting and revolting/ anti-social and she succeeded. I don't hate her though, she's pretty interesting but i hate every second i have to look at her, she's not caring for herself. eww.

Art is art just like beauty is, and it has nothing to do with how a person treats/takes care of herself or himself.

It's a shame if one does not take care or chooses not to take care the gift (in this case, beautiful features) natures has endows one with, but to each his or her own.

i could be wrong, it's been a looong time since i did my Dalish playthrough in DAO, but isn't there the possibility of the dalish warden returning to his clan after killin the archdemon? could make meeting merrill and the clan that much more interesting (unless i'm totally wrong.)
