"I dont want to fight more of them!"

You just killed like 60 of them on the way here, how many can honestly be left?

God I wish they would've given more warning about pouring blood on the sacred ashes is the equivalent to taking a ****** on Jesus's holy grail.

I mean Leliana knew why we were taking the vial why didn't she say something like "What are you fricken' crazy!" as soon as Kolgrim handed me that vial. Not wait till the mintue i'm at the urn to have an outburst like that and kill my warden. The first time I went through the game that really suprised me.

Well, she does express some heavy discomfort, claiming that Kolgrim is crazy and saying how this makes her feel uneasy.

She probably thinks that you're playing Kolgrim. Similar to Alistair I think, where you can persuade him saying that you "know what you're doing".

Yeah but they should've put in some warning or somethingImage IPB.

It freaked me out I'm like why is everyone so angry? The least they could've done is when Leliana turns on you it gives you the option to say "What! What'd I do?"

As I said before:
Doing that is like smoking bacon on the Ark of the Covenant while drinking American beer from the Holy grail, atop the Dome of the Rock. And people wonder why Leliana and Wynne dont like that.

Yeah alot of people are just like "Its just a stupid urn" and don't get why Leliana and Wynne would turn on the warden like that.

Do these even people realize that someone can have so much respect for something that their willing to fight to the death for it.

Totally agreed.

It shouldn't be too hard to understand that someone who has a strong reverence for a certain person (a prophet no less), would get violent if you choose to ****** on their remains.

I get it, you found the holy grail, zulfiqar, the ark of the covenant, ect. and defecated on it. I still think Leliana and Wynne went too far. They could've easily taken the Alistair at the LM route and leave. Foresake all of Fereldan for a holy relic that nobody believes exisits. Not smart. But I'm probably FoS because if an Abrahamic artifact was found and defiled I'd probably do the same so forget what I just wrote.

I don't think most Muslims care about it that much to consider it a holy relic (in fact, I think the entire concept would be considered idolatry). But I can see Shias looking at the sword in a similar fashion, yea.

Nevermind the OT icness.

Yep, we don't rock crosses and what not. I found the Ser Perth side quest in Redcilffe amusing.

I am not being Vaughan's advocate. It's just, I believe, that without knowing what he did, killing him just because he said elves are not people seems a bit excessive to me. Leaving him in his cell on the otherhand isn't. And we have to remember that this was right after an elven uprising, which partially caused his emprisonment. So in that context, I wouldn't blame a human for hating elves nor would I blame elves for hating humans. At least I wouldn't condone killing them for a remark.

But that's just me.

Oh, I don't kill him because he believes elves aren't people. I kill him because unless I'm metagaming and know that I can get him to actually abdicate and join the Chantry, Vaughan will become the Arl of Denerim even if I leave him in his cell as someone is bound to come by at some point and let him out (Alfstanna comes by for her brother, at any rate). He is in charge of the Alienage and after getting a jumbled version of events about Soris' ruined wedding day, hearing Vaughan say that sometimes it is necessary to remind elves that they aren't people when he rules the Alienage...evil or not, I think that is a case of the needs of the many over the needs of Vaughan.

Soris tells me enough to let me gut that bastard without feeling bad about it.

Also Zevran chimes in with something doesen't he if you start to release him I thought?

Unless I'm Elven, Vaughn gets released in exchange for support in the Landsmeet.

...What? That happens?

I wasn't arguing tha there are no reasons to kill Vaughan. I was simply saying that killing him just because he said elves aren't people is not, for me, a good enough reason in that context (same for an elf saying humans are not people).

The reason you stated, the hints of him assassinating his father, or even planing to become Arl of Denerim (even if the option is not there), can also be reasons.

I haven't actually dont this but according to the toolset...

PC: If I let you out, you'll abdicate and join the Chantry.
Vaughan: What? Are you mad? Why would I do that?
PC: You can spend the rest of your life atoning, or rot in here/Because I want you to suffer more/I could just kill you.
Vaughan: Very well, I'll...I'll do it. Now open the door!

And then you're supposed to see him...somewhere and when you click on him you get this line "We worship thee with Faith unbreaking, strive to learn each moment waking...Blast it! I never remember that line."

Edit: What hints are there about him having assassinated his father?

If you talk to Soris however he doesn't make the racist comment since you lose the option to ask him "what's happening with the elves", instead getting the "you're the Arl that elf mentioned" to which he offers a different reply.

Plus, Soris' version is so jumbled that I wouldn't be able to truly feel sure about it. But getting Vaughn to actually say the words...

Just like with Lloyd, I call it taking out the trash.

Funny that you mention this, it is until my fifth run of DA that I started asking Bodhan for rumors. I can't believe how many there are!

Only once, on my CE playthrough. It was fitting for her since the idea of a guy who gropped women and was such a coward who refused to defend the village, sickened her. Just like with Genitivi, it's an almost comical cutscene.

On all my other runs he fights and survives. I actually like how he thanks the warden for forcing him to fight and overcome his cowardness.

I felt it was enough.

PC: Why were you imprisoned here?
Soris: The arl's son... he abducted my bride on our wedding day. When I tried to rescue her... I don't remember. She was screaming, and he was laughing, and I charged at him... and woke up here. I don't know if she's even still alive.

PC: What caused the elves to rebel?
If elf!Warden Vaughan: How should I know? They're prickly and take offense at anything. It's only their laziness that keeps them from being trouble most of the time.
If not: You know how elves are. Every now and then they start to think they're people, and you have to put them back in their proper place.

You may not get to hear this if you talked to Soris, but he mentioned his bride had been abducted and needed rescuing. She was clearly either being raped or tortured by a laughing Vaughan when Soris showed up and anyone who would abduct someone to do that to on their wedding day and leave the would-be rescuer to rot isn't the best Arl of a city with an Alienage in my book.
