I actually like how he thanks the warden for forcing him to fight and overcome his cowardness.

And not before presenting you another opportunity to make fun of him, too. Truely, the man's a giver.

As with everything in the game, it all depends on your motivation.

So killing the merchant in Lothering for no reason whatsoever isn't evil?

According to Qun it isn't. Ask the Sten what he thinks about the unscrupulous merchant next time you pass thru Lothering. The Qun is hardly evil.

Nods.  According to the Sten the village was in need of supplies in a crisis, the merchant was withholding said supplies.  Hence the solution is to eliminate the problem - the merchant.  Nothing evil about it.  Just pragmatism.

Well, sure it would have been evil had it been done 'for no reason whatsoever' but then just about any violent act, done for no reason whatsoever, would be considered evil.

Its no more evil then dwarven tradition, or the Chantry.
Sucks if you are a mage, but then again being a mage is bad for you just about anywhere outside of Tevinter.
But then Tevinter is ruled by slavers and blood mages.

For myself, it is allowing Branka to make golems as she has sold her House to becoming Darkspawn rape victims. While Vaughn and his crew do the same, that is personal when you make the choice to kill him or take the bribe as they involve family. (ie; City Elf Origin). Allowing Branka to maintain her Paragon status for the sake of a few more war machines in the army is only an option I have been able to make a single time across all characters.

I think killing Connor is pretty crappy, especially as there is an out.

It sucks if you want any sort of freedom.  They're quite successful in brainwashing people to enjoy slavery, but that doesn't make it right.  Particularly not when it is spread by armed force.
I don't see anyone saying that abandoning your child in the deep roads because it had the wrong father is right because dwarven tradition says it is.

She was clearly either being raped or tortured by a laughing Vaughan when Soris showed up and anyone who would abduct someone to do that to on their wedding day and leave the would-be rescuer to rot isn't the best Arl of a city with an Alienage in my book.

Uhm, ok if you say so. I don't see how I can make the connection from that dialogue line to be equal to Vaughn raping someone.

Then again, my PoV was drawn after I had just recently dealt with the Dalish ( and to say that I was pissed at Zathrian did was putting mildly ), and I never asked Sorris on my first playthrough about why he was there. Just figured he was another of Howe's victims. "Shrug"

In my experience, elves can and are just as bad as humans are in their oppression.

I didn't say that elves couldn't be just as bad and I'd be uncomfortable putting such an obviously anti-human elf in charge of the fate of humans as well. I feel that Soris' bride being abducted on her wedding day and screaming while Vaughan was laughing implied rape and/or torture. What else do you think it could have implied? There might be other things but on my second playthrough (before I had played CE) I asked Soris about it, that was the conclusoin I came to.

The only thing I cant see any reasoning for is during the Arcane Warrior quest.

You can toss the crystal aside and go NAh and leave a person to an eternity of going mad over and over again. I can see justification for keeping the crystal, but to just toss it aside?

Maybe you can think that putting that orb on the altar is dangerous?

.....Yea that one, I can't think of too many reasons, and believe me I tried.

You might think it was a demon or some other sort of sealed evil in a can trying to trick you into releasing it.

If you think it is dangerous than you could just say lob it at the altar.

But to just go "nah" and toss it away, thats just horrible to think of.

Killing Conner is exactly what the Chantry and the law of the land say is necessarily.  He's an abomination.  I mean, this is the test if someone is to become a mage -- put a demon in them, and if they can't resist, kill them.

Evil is making a deal with the demon in Connor, taking what you want and leave the demon free to come back and repossess him in the future.

No kidding. What I was saying was that if you say "poisoning the ashes for no reason" "annulling the Circle of Magi for no reason" "sacrificing Isolde in a bloog magic ritual" , ect. then obviously it would be bad.

You didn't say "killing the merchant in Lothering" was evil. You said that "killing the merchant in Lothering for no reason was evil." Maybe if you killed him you had no reason but you can't just assume that every other person who killed him did so for no reason.

sadly they didn't give you dialouge options for those other reason you wanted to kill him. All they gave you was "Hey I hear you're making a killing. Me too!" *Stabbity kill kill*

The most badass for me was when roaming the back ally with Zev he sides with his buddy and wipes out my party. I reload a previous save and go to camp strip him down and then terminate him. As for evil it has to be denying Morrigan the sperm she wanted.

I just remembered about the crystal with the trapped prisoner giving you the arcane warrior and you don't do as you promise that is evil most evil.
