Of course it was! This was a S®CA licensed event! Naturally, the chest hair armor was only given low level enchantments as the men fighter were low ranked bogatyr.

those shots are very reminiscent of Venice in Italy when you stray away from the larger streets and the canal sides

it reminded me of venice as well, like i said earlier it looks to me like a narrower "praça de S.marco".
ahh...good memories (went there 13 years ago, time sure does fly). feeding pigeons in there was fun as heck mostly because there were so many:D

They remember more Florence to me but still, I agree: Kirkwall has an Italian Renaissance vibe.

So.. it seems that in the first concept art that there are at least two people with staves. I don't get the impression that mages are allowed to walk around Kirkwall freely so.. what's that all about?

They're walking with escorts of two though, so it could very well be mages out for some official circle shopping.

Allthough the one with the staff in the upper picture do seem to have the same style of circlet as the heavily armoured lady we've seen screenshots of.

On the subject of names, Mr.Gaider had this to say, last time the drama about it sparked in the "lowtown" thread.

This is true. The names for districts have arisen out of common usage. Lowtown is the area which used to be the old mining pit-- it's lower than the rest of the city, and thus the name. It's also appropriate because that's where all the poor people live. Hightown is everywhere that is higher up, and where the rich folk live.

Darktown is actually just a nickname. That's the inhabited portion of the Undercity, which are more old mining tunnels as opposed to actual sewers. The people that live there are the "lowest of the low", the homeless and the shady characters that prefer not to be out in the open, and thus the name is a play on the Lowtown/Hightown dichotomy.

Could we have named them something else? I guess. I happen to like names that people would actually use, myself, but I imagine we could have called them anything. No matter what we'd called them I'm sure someone would have come and said how terrible it was. Such is the Law of Naming. Posted Image

I live in a place where the 2 nearest "bad" areas are referred to as "The Hilltop" and "The Bottoms" so Hightown and Lowtown don't bother me.

In my city we have areas with similar names (translated): East on the city, West on the city, New dale, Holm channel.

Hightown and Lowtown don't bother me either.
