Some missions should have multiple paths to go down. Shepard chooses one path and assigns a team for the other path. Just like the Collector base mission except non linear.
Eh, but that makes it sound like you are restricted to a linear path once you choose it.

I'd rather it be more free-roam, like Noveria. Know what I mean?

For example-

You could turn in Opold's package to Anoleis for the garage pass, but you could still go through everything at Port Hanshan and help Parasini take him down.
Sorry for the double post. The example you gave is actually still linear. With Noveria there are simply short cuts on the same path.

I gave Anoleis the package but after that I couldn't help out Quinn

Ahh, my mistake then. Been a while since ME1.

But they could apply short cuts to either path you choose.

I don't see that as linear.

I see it as multiple ways to get to the same goal.

In the end of the day, you HAVE to get to the same point.

There are shorter and faster ways to do it, but there ARE multiple ways to get to that end point.

Compare that to ME2's one path to everything. The only time I saw a break was in Tali's recruitment, but that was a combat situation, not a story situation or progression situation.

Although there needs to be more of those too. I loved the different options to take in that particular battle. I prefer the left route, fighting tons of geth but being protected from the Colossus.

I've heard people like going middle and going right, so that makes me believe multiple options ends up being a rather positive decision, whether its story, progression, or combat related.

That's one of the most nonsensical comments I've read in here. You're saying Shepard made the decision while he was dead!?

Wha-?
Ofcourse not, I am saying that Cerberus bringing him back to life lead to him working with them.

I was being disingenuous. Paragon Shepard wouldn't agree to work with Cerberus just because they brought him back to life, at least not without checking other options first (such as working with the Alliance or the Council) but ME2 Shepard just says "yeah, sure, I'll work for you" even if he followed the paragon path in ME1.

I was more miffed about Shepard joining Cerberus when my Shepard is a Sole Survivor.

That made NO SENSE AT ALL.

What made no sense, was that you could say NOTHING about Akuze or bring up Toombs.

Miranda: Cerberus is so great!
Shepard: Tell that to the fifty marines in my squad... oh wait you guys fed them to Thresher MAWS!

50 marines.

48 dead.

And the two that are alive are in no mood for Cerberus' games.

This should've been brought up, damn it.

Or them killing more marines under Kahoku.
Then killing him.
Or Chasca.
Or letting Rachni loose.

Yep apparently those dont matter, at all.
urgh....

Still I get the chance to get back at them by blowing the base, and stealing their schwag.

I really hope nobody pays attention to that "want" list. I don't want or need loot, and I don't want any vehicle sections (BW has repeatedly proven that they just aren't any good at them). The only thing on that list that I agree with is divergence.

First I'm going to respect your opinion, but I 'm also going to disagree with you on the loot and the vehicle part. If you have played Overlord DLC. I promise you Bioware got it right. Seriously, That is the best damn and balance vehicle gameplay they got right. It was fun and I had a lot of fun with it.

Yea the Hammerhead is indeed awesome, and would be perfect with a few armor/weapon upgrades.

I have to respectfully disagree, say the Featherhead is a failure, and by God do I want the Mako back for those driving sequences IGN so feverishly wants.

Something tells me Toombs is going to end up IN a Tomb after ME3.

I still don't know if I care or not.

Eh, throw in the sheild/armor and weapons upgrade and you have the Mako with HH's mobility.

The Mako felt like a TANK, the Hammerhead felt like well a hovercraft.

A tank can take a hit, the hammerhead gets poked and then it explodes.

Add to it, that outside of Overlord, its practically set on rails well it felt boring and was quite pathetic to use.

I've not bought Overlord, but I "drove" the Hammerhead in the Firewalker DLC and frankly I'd rather drive the Mako. No I'm not being sarcastic. It really was that terrible. I also drove the taxi in LotSB. Again, awful. Perhaps it's worse because I'm playing on a PC (WASD is fine for shooters but not for flying/driving).

I actually love the taxi chase in LoTSB.

But I want the Mako back. Without a doubt in my mind.

Seeing it stuck there on Alchera HURTS.

The hammerhead could be made to work with just a few things.

-Make its physics less anemic.

-Make its missiles less useless, and give it some sort of machine gun turret, or better yet, give it the same weapon systems as the Mako, including the heating thing.  (Combat in the HH was about as intersting as watching grass grow.)

-Give the Hammerhead a HUD that includes health, and give it enough health and shields to, let's say take 3 shots from a geth trooper maybe?

-Allow seamless entering and exiting of the vehicle.

In other words, give us the Mako back. Except you want it faster.

I think that's about right. Personally, I could care less about the HH's speed. To me it was too fast to be an effective IFV. Even with better armor/shields and weapons, the speed seems pointless to me. I don't want to rush through a vehicle level. The HH Levels were too linear in Firewalker and were only marginally less linear in Overlord. It seemed like both the HH and all combat maps were designed to be rushed through which bugged the hell out of me. The elimination of the Zoom toggle and Long Range combat in general was a huge step back for vehicle combat.

I prefer to be cautious in a vehicle rather than go around running and gunning which is what the HH appears to be designed for. I'll agree with some that the Mako wasn't anywhere near as bad as many people say nor did it merit being removed from ME2. For me my issues were the ME1 level design and the Mako overreacting to the terrain. (it bounced around too much)

Before I go off on a rant here is my point on vehicle combat:

-Improve the Mako's controls.

-If it can't be reasonably fixed get rid of the hammerhead.

-Bring back the Zoom toggle and long range combat.

-The only infantry units that should pose a threat to any IFV should be enemies with rocket launchers. Assault rifles should not be a threat to an IFV.

-Enemy AI should not be static on a map. They never move! I would like to see randomized spawn points to start.

-Enemy AI should be smarter. Instead of being brave/stupid have them retreat when the odds are against them. Or even retreat/regroup to set up ambushes.

Side Note: The one thing that was silly in ME1 was seeing enemy AI still trying to kill me in the Mako when their entire squad is dead and they are the last ones standing.

Well, Cerberus, as evil and amoral as they are, are the only ones trying to stop the colony attacks and stop the Reapers right now, so Shepard understands that they are a necessary evil.

90% agree. I don't want space combat though. BW can't even get ground vehicular combat right. Space combat you need to think vertically and laterally.
