Good class for someone who can't stop playing as a Vanguard.

I respectfully disagree with "master of none" as I think the Sentinel's the master of damage protection.

I only said that you start out as a master of none.

Try engi or adept. Mix it up a bit. ;)

I can clear a battlefield quicker with an adept than any other class as long as I bring Energy Drain as a bonus or have overload on a squadmate to deal with shields. It's the only class that can set up it's own warp-bombs. :) Engineer is the master of not getting hit since you can spam drones and enemies always turn to engage them. Probably the slowest at clearing a battlefield though. Neither really is as "in your face" as a vanguard though.

All the classes are a blast, though sentinal is a bit "yawn" to me. Fun, but not as exciting as the specialized classes.

Both are great classes with high burst damage potential, but neither can tank the way a sentinel can. I found my engineer to be a glass cannon - I could clear out enemies really fast with heavy long range damage, but if I got hit, I'd be toast really fast. I've seen cqc engineers being played, but I don't think I'm at that level of play yet.

I'd agree on the sentinel becoming boring later in the game after the ownage-high passes over. Makes me want to improve my game with the other classes though.

If you desire a risky action orientated class. Why not attempt a close quarters Infiltrator, wherein you utilize the cloak to move in close and essentially ninja everything in sight? This would require taking up the Shotgun as your advance weapon training. Regardless, it has immense potential and who knows you may fancy sniping. The Sentinel has much potential for hardened up close combat, however there are those who claim it is relatively dull in execution due to you playing primarily on the defense. You are designed to be more supportive, crippling enemies and maintaining Tech Armor for maximum survivability. Adept may be intriguing if you like to amuse yourself by manipulating combat, tossing your enemies around like ragdolls. It has some insanely destructive potential, yet is more indirectly action orientated.

As for your off topic mention. I advise typing in the Quick Replay section. If you have a spell check installed on Firefox, it will correct your errors as per the norm. Furthermore, you have type in Microsoft Office and c/p devoid of the forum going haywire. (The standard reply form has immense disliking to MO) For new threads, merely type in the Quick Reply of another topic, then c/p that to the thread you are making.

I tried a NG+ with a Level 30 Adept, got my ass handed to me on Omega just trying to rescue Archangel. That being said I've been playing a Vanguard (surprise) and a Sentinel, with much more interest. That being said, Try an Engineer or an Infiltrator.

Two Reasons:

Keep your assault up, or get more defensive.

Only classes I haven't tried yet :P

don't play as narrow mind. try all six class. I did. they have all their own advantage you don't know. vanguard is awesome. but the class has any more advantage like other class. so just try out. many people think that engineer class is sucks. NO. it's very useful, and nice after you get assault rifle or another gun in derelict reaper. attack or explosive drone is very helpful. AI hacking is just good as you get.

I'd put my money on a shotgun infiltrator.
the play style is not that different from vanguard: instead of charging you cloak to get close to enemies and gun them down.
the viper at point-blank is also quite deadly.

Shotgun Engineer can be a lot of fun. Spam your drone to distract your target and then storm their position for a close quarters kill. If you bring Reave along you are prepared for any situation, which in turn gives you tons of flexibility when you choose your squadmates.

As far as the Soldier goes, Commando gives you +50% storm speed, used in conjunction with Adrenaline Rush, you can be extremely aggressive with how you navigate an area. Couple 50 or 70% time dilation with enhanced storm speed and you can get up close and personal quickly. Much more diverse range of playstyles for this class than just leaning out from behind cover with an AR.

I've played a shotgun build for all the classes on Insanity, and each have good qualities in the area of CQC. I personally prefer the Infiltrator w/ the Geth shotty, and either GSB, Stasis, or Dominate for my bonus. Next to that, The shotgun engineer and shotgun adept are both really fun to play as well. Try em' all!

I too am a vanguard addict. I would play as a soldier like I did in ME1 but I cant stand having all those weapons on my back as it makes me clunky looking. i would prefer to have just a Assault Rifle and a Pistol. I played Vanguard my first play through and a Infiltrator with Geth Shield boost and the Widow for my second. I loved slow mo head popping collectors with the widow.

As others have suggested: Shotgun Infiltrator. Stealth Eviscerator headshots, baby!

Alternatively, play as the Soldier and pick up the Claymore. Charging in with the aid of Adrenaline Rush is actually even riskier than the Vanguard's Charge.

I suppose Shotgun Infiltrator is fine on casual game settings, but it won't work on Insanity, especially NG+. I can tell you that the Infiltrators defenses are like eggshells, and you can and do get hit when cloaked. Two hits, you're dead. Nowhere near what the Vanguard, Soldier and Sentinel have as defense. But if you're playing on Casual or Normal, I guess all that is so much easier.

I've never even been shot at while cloaked, much less hit.

You can get hit all the time while cloaked if you move between enemies and any living teammates.  Special attacks from enemies can still track you while you're cloaked as well.

Odd.  I'm playing an Insanity Shotgun Infiltrator for my current playthrough.  It's a walk in the park.  You just have to know how to handle close combat.  I'm finding it less risky than Insanity Vanguard, but also less exciting.

On my Adept I really enjoy using Pull on an opponent while having Mordin set him on fire with Incinerate, and then using Heavy Throw and watching my own little fireworks show. Warp bombs are fun too. I enjoy my biotics just a little too much methinks.
