Personally my vote is for Anders.

Meg is almost certainly a rogue, considering his concept art lacks shoulderpads of doom.

So that's three rogues...

Carver and Aveline can die, so I expect we'll be having more warriors.

I'm almost certain it was mentioned somewhere that Hawke will have seven companions. May or may not include the secret DLC character, I have no idea.

Ever looked at Aveline's concept art? How about ole Carv? Lets not rule him out as a warrior just yet. Your last point only adds to my thinking that he'll be a warrior (plus, while they don't make a character 'just to be differen't I'm sure they strove to create new types of characters as much as possible, a male Elf rogue? Where have I seen that before?).

@SirOccam: I knew there must be confirmation somewhere, it's always been obvious enough.

If warriors in DA 2 need shoulderpads of doom. Why don't Carver and Aveline have them?

I didn't mind Jowan unlike a fair few others, but I'd still prefer Finn or Anders. Jowan also suffers from the same thing as Anders: He can die.

Yes he could but if I'm not mistaken then I remember reading a post by a dev saying that death is not necessarily permanent. As I said before, Jowan is super awesome and there was even plans (iirc) to have him as a follower in DAO so he deserves to be in DA2

I'm going with a male mage and any male mage from Origins and DAO dlc. I'd like to see Anders the most. Sketch and Finn as possible seconds. I'd make sense if Finn was along hunting down the Dalish from WH to find more information on those mirrors and where they might lead.

Even if you didn't kill him, he'll probably do you a favor and soon get himself killed somewhere anyway. The guy's just too dumb to stay alive for long periods.

I would be funny if Jowan was a companion, just for the fact that he could talk about Hawke's cousin that was in the Mage's Tower. But personally I hated him, he was whinny & useless.

I may be alone on this, but I actually liked Jowan. He and my mage Warden were tight.
Personally, I think it'd be awesome if he made a cameo. But...that's probably just wishful thinking.

Anyway, while I never played Awakening, I've seen a little of Anders. If he himself doesn't return in DA2, then a companion like him would be neat.

Actually, you know what would be potentially really cool--a qunari soldier who "comes out" as a mage DURING THE INVASION when Hawke et al are about to kill him.  Talk about AWKWARD.  That could be a seriously interesting companion.

That was actually from me.... completely unsubstatiated, but who knows? I pulled it off the back of a hoodie.
