If you hate the Fade in the first place then go back to PvP games and short attention span theater.
If you've just played so many times that it bores you, then you know the entire game well enough that the entire game should bore you IMO. Go do something else.
As a role-playing enthusiast The Fade is great and I hope the game designers continue to utilize models that require travel back and forth between zones. This applies to other aspects of the game as well such as traveling to the Brecilian Forest for "K"s quests, returning to Orzamar for Trial of the Crowes, etc.

Lol, even the devs hated the Fade level. I remember reading an article, or maybe a thread on the forums, that there won't be a level like the Fade in DA2 and promise not to make anything like it again.
You must really be an boring and uninteresting person if you really liked "The Fade".
Silly troll <_<

I can get through it in around an hour, however, which makes it somewhat less tedious than the Deep Roads.

It would be better with randomization (i.e. not always the same layout) so you couldn't learn it by heart

Deep roads is fine as long as you don't bother with the side quests. And make sure you've got plenty of space in your inventory

Thank you for that well-reasoned argument on why you hate getting free content for your game.Johnny Chaos wrote...

Obviously you weren't playing the right mods.

I stand by my opinion that The Fade is fantastically done. It does sadden me a bit to read that even the devs hated The Fade . . . I hate to see things like that get cut.
Deep Roads too . . . don't mind backtracking. I think it adds character to the locations, the story, and the game.

Just re-read my post per your responses. I do sound like an angry little monkey don't I? Oh well. Not every post I make is going to be liked.

*grin* While I don't mind the Fade or the Deep Roads, I admit I get impatient for actual story to happen and NPCs to interact with. Lengthy wanderings with lots of fighting has its place and will always be in RPGs, but I'll never be a fan of long dungeon crawls where I just want the plot to continue (especially when I'm enjoying said plot).
Just different gaming tastes, really.

You know - I guess I have to concede that you and the OP do have a point. There's only so much a gamer can take. Everybody has their peeves with repetitive crap.
For me it was World of Warcraft. The story was taking to long . . . I know a lot of people say that's not what MMOs are about and I got that, but after 3 years of running the same raids 100 times to get the gear to progress a group I was like, "C'moooooonnnnn."
Hence, this game doesn't seem quite so tedious for me. I built up a tolerance for repetitive bullshyt over on WoW.
But to bring it back to this game - mages. I can never complete a mage playthrough. The class just doesn't suit me. I hear you on the "two characters" thing.
