The Fade is boring. Not the quest but the Fade itself. The scenery is miasmal. Even the first time I thought It took forever. An improvement for future games wouldn't hurt.

This. The Fade is supposed to be where spirits and demons live, constantly shifting and being reshaped. It's the dreamlands where elves and humans wander in their sleep. It is the realm where mages draw their power.

And it's completely and utterly boring.

I didn't mind doing the stuff without my companions, but the scenery was so dreary that it made the whole thing a drag.

Like Hanz54321, I enjoy going back to areas because I think it adds to the realism.

I liked the Fade on my first few play throughs, but I really miss the party banter.  Now, I usually put the game on Easy while I'm in the Fade and fly through it.

I love mods and use quite a few of them, but I haven't felt the need to entirely skip the fade yet.  I would never have replayed this game as often without mods.  Not sure how console players do it...

I actually played through the game multiple times without mods and I'm on the PC. It was after I started hanging out on the boards that I decided to give a couple of the romance mods a try.

When someone mentioned the Skip the Fade mod, I would've given them a big kiss if I knew them in real life, because I hated that part more than Orzammar (love the deep roads).

Deep Roads has its moments but I hate all the backtracking in Caridin's Cross and I really hate deepstalkers. Ortan Thaig is OK...Dead Trenches is just too long for my own tastes. First time I played on normal (having graduated from easy) I took a pounding and realised I had no injury kits left. All my companions were too busted to take on the Broodmother so I had to go ALLLLLL the way back, (there is no quick way to retreat), through Orzammar and back to camp in order to get enough supplies. Pain in the arse. (Of course that was just the one time, but still).

Once you exit to the deep roads map you can go to your map of fereldon and access Party camp without having to go through Orzammar to get to camp. You do have to go through orzammar on the return trip back though.

I don't mind the fade but if it was randomized like someone else said that would be awesome.

The Fade isn't that bad...but, that said, it's still my least favorite.

I actually like the Deep Roads a lot. It really helps paint the magnitude of how large the dwarven thaigs were. Also, the first encounter with the Broodmother and the subsequent knowledge of how Darkspawn are produced.....Geeze. The Deep Roads rock.

I never had any problems with the Fade, never skipped it and never will and was quite surprised that there was so much hate in the community - but then, I also liked Halo, which would also fit some here people's description of "dull, monochrome, and repetitive"...

The Deep Roads, however... are you people sure there isn't a "Skip the Deep Roads" mod somewhere? Gosh, those tunnels. Those tunnels... Kill darkspawn in a cave, kill deepstalkers, kill more darkspawn in a cave, kill more deepstalkers, find some useless ruins, kill darkspawn in a cave...

(Or while we're at it, a "Skip from Lothering to the Landsmeet" mod? Now I'm being facetious... sorry)

I know your pain, brother (or sister). I usually run out of equipment space just before the Broodmother (because I am too stingy to buy backpacks or to destroy things) and have to track all the way back to Ruck to sell my stuff...

While I'm all for a good dungeon crawl, I did find the Fade wearing on me after about eight playthroughs. I installed the mod to skip it and have never looked back. Yay mods! \\o/

I think Fade was actually quite good with all the forms ansuch.

It would be better with randomization (i.e. not always the same layout) so you couldn't learn it by heart

i like the fade and hate it at the same time

I actually enjoy the Fade, one of my favorite parts of the game. Excellent RP potential. Though I think that they should have done the Warden's dream better. Instead of Duncan (who may or may not mean anything to the Warden) they should have put in something more personalized and custom to the warden's Origin. That, and the fact that you always have to have Wynne in the Fade, and thus, suffer through her repetitive and rather boring and pathetic nightmare.

But other than that, it (along with the Deep roads, is one of my favorite questlines in the game.

My problem with the Fade was that it seemed to lack atmosphere. With the exception of the Mage any Warden in the Fade is essentially a fish out of water, but the game doesn't really reinforce that idea. The Warden just seems to shrug it off and press on there's no sense of being out of your element. Overall though I enjoy the section, hated it the first time through but now that I know what's what it's pretty fun.

Me, too.  The number of people who hate it mystifies me but to each their own.

Nope, don't agree (with the original post). I like the fade. It was very challenging the first time, and I still enjoy the areas and changing form. I like to try different combinations of things for getting through more efficiently. I really enjoy it. The only downside is how much I miss my companions, but that's pretty awesome from a roleplaying perspective.

I must really be in the minority because I really love the fade. It's one of my favorite parts of the game and I have done several playthroughs already. I think the atmosphere and the music is great. I enjoy using all the different forms you gain while in there in combat. I think it's fun. The devs hated that part too? Wow. Maybe I'm weird? Well actually I know I am.

I used to use skip the fade, but I've now gone to a mod called less tedious fade where you still have to go through the fade, but there is a book right next to the first mouse hole that has all the shapes in it. There is not backtracking with it and I was done within a half hour. (I have companion mods and the don't work well with skip the fade)
