But it is a dating sim, just because it has multiple facets doesn't mean that you can mush it all together under one banner. It has dating sim elements, it has JRPG elements, it has Hack N' Slash elements, it has classic RPG elements, it has Rogue-like elements, it one big mushy soup, & people are okay to say that they hate the way the tomatoes taste

Assuming you play it on the PC you can actually make a solid assumption that it won't be hack and slash for the reasons I mentioned in my previous post, all of the elements I mentioned would serve to definitively prevent it from being a hack and slash game.

That's my read on the situation. Personally, I'm in C (obviously), have little problem with B, and think A's arguments are specious.

Again I humbly suggest the addition of Group D, which consists of people who don't actually have an idea what they're talking about but are bored as fornication and have nothing better to do with their time than coming over and puking all over the forums, parroting the one term that is apparently going hot around here nowadays - hack'n'slash, without giving a damn what it actually means.

Feel free to put together a less offensive description.

You need to add a Group, I don't care if is Group D or Group Unicorn, but a group of people who think that the game has a lot of different elements from a lot of different games, & really hates that DA2's combat (exclusively) will be following a Hack & Slasher

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying DA:O was not an PG - it was a dating sim.

You would be wrong if you said the end result - the shipped version of DAO - was a dating sim, but justified in saying - even now - that the trailer you saw looked like a dating sim.

No, I would be wrong. At best I could say that the trailer made the think it was a dating sim. Bioware certainly never presented the game as such.

So, Aermas, you must clarify - when you say that DA:2 is drawing influence from hack and slash games when it comes to combat, do you mean animation speed and style?  Perhaps even how the art looks?  Or are you also saying that gameplay has been altered significantly enough to be deemed hack and slash entirely?
