Again, the swords were the same size in DA:O. It's not a "new" thing. It's still annoying to me, but it's not part of DA:2's changes in art style.

I know. I didn't like them in DA:O either. And the mauls were just gigantic, good grief.

While swords were absurdley large in DA:O, at least they seemed appropriately slow for oversized weapons.

In DA:O, the same weapons are being twirled around like batons, sometimes with just one hand.

While 2h swords IRL are much faster than most people realize, they aren't nearly THAT fast.

My sister has hair like that. This however..

Thats one person, everyone else we have seen has perfectly reasonable Hair.

I have seen about three people from the game.

And dude, the JRPG style is obvious.

Just look at the trailer. In DA:O the darkspawn looked like Orcs from LOTR.

Now they look like this

I think that horned guy in the trailer is supposed to be a Qunari. Not that it makes any difference to your point though.

Not necessarily.

Diablo, for example, has a really elaborate back story.  Problem is, nobody really seems to care about it.

Doesn't help when an "elaborate" backstory is not present in the game.  Rather its being told mostly outside as supplement to the game.

The fact that very few people in the fanbase cares about it is precisely the reason Diablo doesn't put much of its story in game.

It's just more responsive, that's it. You can still do battle tactics like in DA:O .

Diablo has a story !?

The reason I loathe hack n slash games is basically because they have barely a story and the whole game is just repetative clicking in combat. Combat is usually my least favorite thing in an RPG (except if it's a shooter RPG like ME2).

I don't consider what Diablo has, a story. Diablo has a one page script.

But what about swords? :( Stabbing people and all....

Good fun, I say.

Everyone keeps telling me that the only thing changed is the responsiveness. And I'm thinking everyone must be blind. It looks like a totally different game. I would have never guessed it was the sequel to DA:O when i first saw this game.

I love DMC or God of War combat. I find DAO style combat boring, which is why I usually play on easy only. I even found The Witcher's QTE combat more fun.

Diablo's combat was just repative mindless clicking which got boring extremly quickly

If a man calls you a jackass, kick him in the shins.
if another man calls you a jackass, punch him in the gut.
If a third man calls you a jackass . . . well . . . it's time to start looking for a saddle

Basically . . . take our word for it.

To play Devil's Advocate, that's still a story.

I have more sense than listening to people here. Fanboys are the only word you can describe some of them really.

CoD multiplayer has a better story than Diablo.

yes we're all fanboys, what do we know? after all, some of us only played a 15 minute demo of DA2 in which the gameplay felt like a faster version of origins.

And I don't get the whole "it looks different so it must be different" vibe of some posters here, myself.  I imagine its similar to how my dog barks at me like I'm a stranger when I put on a hat.  I'm still the same guy, I'm just wearing a hat.  But my dog gets confused sometimes, I suppose.

The only difference I see - literally - is faster, more responsive animations.

They way they fight with two handers is also wrong, they never grab above the hilt for torque. They may not do it because they have JRPG swords, that have no second grip above the hilt, though.

Now thats saying something.  I dont think ive played a game with a more boring combat system than the Witcher.  Click, click, click, click, click click click *punches self in the face*

(granted, I probably havent played near as many games as most people on this board)

personally, from the leaked vids I've seen, I don't really see how DA2 is anymore "hack-n-slash" than DAO.

there's no jump button or block button or dash/dodge button like in "action" games.

you still have one button for basic attack, with the other face buttons tied to talents/spells with cooldowns.

you can also pause and pull up the radial menu to assign commands.

just like DAO. only faster, flashier, and more responsive. which are good things, imo.........

If you're in a position where your enemy has a clear shot at your back, you are very likely dead, armour or no. All that armour does is protect you in case of a screw-up, where you walk away with an injury instead of death.

Not to mention that the outrageously unrealistic Dragon Age combat is at least flashy this time instead of pretend realistic.

And swung around like baseball bats, i.e. the wrongest possible way. You don't parry by swinging a sword across the length of your body. That's a wonderful way to get gutted. The DA:O fighting style is as unrealistic as the baton twirling.

Armor will protect you from most all blows, where anyone gets the idea that it only protects from "minor" scrapes is beyond me.

You do not have to be facing someones back to wound them in the back, not to mention it's his sides that are exposed not necessarily his back.
