 Anyone hoping this doesn't happen?

What I mean is simple- The Inquisition situation.

*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR INQUISITION AND RETRIBUTION*

Executor Pallin gets killed by Bailey, and then Bailey gets a promotion.

You know, when I heard Pallin was killed off and the Executor was Chellick, I was already miffed. I liked Pallin, and wanted to see him in ME3.

Then I found out that the promotion for Chellick was non-canon and Pallin was alive, thanks to Retribution.

Then Inquisition comes around and Pallin is killed. This time, its canon. Grrrrrrrreat.

And so it seems Bailey is going to be the one to "take his place", if you know what I mean.

*END SPOILERS*

Anyone share my opinion of not wanting a bunch of ME1 characters to die?

I don't even care if they were minor or major, I want as many ME1 characters back as possible.

Returning characters are always prefferable.

Having played only the games(no books) none of those characters ever struck me as important, so no I don't really care.

Pallin, Chellick, and Bailey are all in the games.

Pallin and Chellick in ME1, Bailey in ME2.

I have that attitude. I want as many returning characters as possible. I DO NOT want ME2 characters to take their place.

It would be weird if for example, Aria was the new Consort.

^I lol'd. Anyway, yeah, Inquisition sucked, Pallin was a bro, and even though I like Bailey I still want me some Chellick.

Oh my God, that was WIN. Hahahahahaha

To be honest, I liked Pallin more than Chellick. By far.

Pallin was a typical Turian аsshole. Got what was coming to him. Bailey is a crook, but he is our crook.

I actually really liked Pallin even though he hated me. He was straight up with me. I respect that.

This. Totally. But I don't think he hated Shepard. He was just cautious and doubtful.

A PYRAMID OF THIS.  Totes agree with LPP and COAW.  I also loved his facial markings and his epic mandibles.  Seriously, he had epic mandibles.  Like, they rendered a specific pair of mandibles just for him.  And he had a piano-key zipper, which brought many lulz.  YES, FRIVOLOUS REASONS  I KNOW, but I'm easy to please.

I love these forums.  I can just post pictures and have other people type up what I wanted to say for me! 8D

Okay, seriously, I'm done being a spazzy douche for now.

Alternative: take that ceremonial knife of yours and do a seppuku.

This. He was a good cop, unlike Bailey.

Pallin was entirely a good cop. Just hesitant about trusting Shepard. He wanted to see results, not hopes and dreams.

Bailey is a mixed bag. He's not a bad guy, but he'll do bad things for good results. He'll also do good things for bad results.

Personally, I prefer Pallin.

@LPP: Okay, fine, I'll be serious. *Ahem* All of this messing up the canon is precisely why I avoid the books/comics. I had to give up reading the StarCraft novels for the same reason. Honestly, it's a shame that they can't keep their own series straight, and you'd think they'd treat a novel like a novel instead of just a cheap spinoff to keep people interested in the franchise. Personally, I love seeing returning characters, since every time I do I jump up with a little whoop of "I know that guy!"

I hope they don't do a complete cast-replace in ME3. After all, that's the last thing you want to do with the end chapter of a trilogy. All those little NPCs, even if they don't seem important, lend a sense of continuity and familiarity to the universe.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if all this happened just because Pallin's voice actor either died or quit. That's usually the reason for stupid retcons like this. Alas...

EDIT: As for Bailey, I really like him as a character.  For an NPC with five minutes of screen-time, he's surprisingly complex.  I love it when that amount of depth is jammed into a character like that, and I hope to see more of him.  However, I also want to see a little more Chellick, just because I liked the guy.  Not as interesting or developed as Bailey, sure, but he was fun to work with.

I'd rather they find someone who sounds almost exactly like Pallin's voice actor to take his place, rather than just killing off the character, like they did with Bill in Left 4 Dead.

Yeah, they did the same thing with Zeratul in SatarCraft 2: the original guy died, so they found someone who sort of sounded like him. It was far from a perfect match, but as Zeratul was important to the story, they couldn't just oust him entirely.

Mind you, some of SC2's story aspects made me want to beat my head into a wall, but as this thread has nothing to do with SC2 and I don't want to spoil it for anyone, I'll keep my mouth shut. BTW, it's a pretty sweet game, and I recommend trying it out to anyone who likes RTS-type stuff once the price goes down.

For example, Chorban and Jahleed better be back and not replaced with some other people.

Face it, Pallin went down for the story reasons. It's not a stupid retcon, it's plot progression.

Also, funny how you complain about the SC2 story, when it's primarily a game about little tanks blowing up little soldiers, while the ME2 story, which is supposed to be about, well, the story of Commander Shepard, sucks at times harder than any part of SC2 story...

QFT, and - Pallin didn't like Shepard not just 'cos he/she is human. Pallin wasn't fond of Spectres in general no matter the race.
