A few weeks ago Mr. Thomas had a thread where he would answer most of the questions the fans had. And a few weeks later, the change to BioWare Dev has been completed.

Not as such, no. There is information in game manuals and "Dragon magazine", but gish are only described in passing. Most info on githyanki focuses on their history, society, powers, and fabled silver swords. There are dozens of warrior/mage hybrids in D&D with different names. Spellsword, Eldritch Knight, Duskblade, Swordmage, ect depending on which edition you are looking at. Gish is just popular because most folks in those circles recognize it quickly and its easy to write.Risax wrote...
But with the Awakening Spec, that would just cause confusion, so I geuss Gish is better.
I never played the D&D board game, are there any novels that explain it? It sounds interesting and I'm a fan of Fantasy.Based on personal experience, not too many people seem to know where it comes from either. They just pick up the context from conversation and fold it into their vernacular.
On topic: If there is a gish class, I hope it allows us to wield weapons other than staves. I am actually a big fan of staff fighting, but I have a thing about playing war-wizards with swords or bows. Not being able to wear armor, I can live with, but I need weapon access darn it.
I'm the other way around. I don't wana fight people in swords wearing a dress, I want to do it in badarse plate mail. Preferabley, I'd go with the 2h sword for my mage. A DPS AW for DA2 would be awesome.
Damn straight

This is a big reason why I love Bioware. Their community relations are amazing.
Any chance you could confirm, without giving specifics, that attention has gone into making sure that melee caster hybrids are possible? Simply saying yes to that would guarantee at least one more copy sold

That's not necessarily true. I'm not asking anything specific about the mechanics, just if a very vague and common archetype is in any way acknowledged by the game mechanics.
I don't really expect a developer to answer, but Bioware has left me pleasantly surprised in the past, so I figure it's worth a shot, especially when a simple answer of "yes" would reassure all of the fans of the archetype.

what about the Templar Spec or Spirit Warrior for Warriors?
those two are some of the spec i'd like to have as well but in the meantime all we can do is wait and see if they are indeed there or not.

I do think, in the process of streamlining, Templar and Spirit Warrior could be combined into one "Holy Warrior" type spec.
Also, since Hawke ( all classes ) is the Champion of Kirkwall, it would seem kind of odd if only Warrior Hawke had a spec called Champion. Perhaps Champion will be a "universal" spec that is unique to Hawke and available to all classes.
Guardian might be in to place emphasis on tanking/defense. Berseker might be in to focus on offense.

I'm with you on this one. I would really like to know if my favorite specs will make it in, or if we will even get new specs. And, ideally, I'd like to know before the Jan. 11 deadline to preorder the Sig edition.
I mean, based on DAO, I already have ideas for the type of characters I'd like to build, and specs factor into that.
Like, I always enjoyed playing a Sword-and-Board Templar+Champion+Spirit Warrior ( in Awakening ) warrior.
Will I be able to create a similar build in DA2?
hopefully, with the forthcoming new info, we will learn more about what specs are available, and how many specs per character.
all we know so far is that Rogues have 3 specs: Assassin, Duelist, Shadow

Im not sure what specs mages may get though. Im pretty sure blood mage is a definite and possibly spirit healer too...unless keeper is given healing magic spells in addition to plant summoning. If that happens i could see shapeshifter being an option for ppl who wanna maul somethng. Itd be awesome to turn into a massive wolf or drake.

Lets see, Aveline is the wife of a Templar. And you are going to Kirkwall, a city that is pretty much ruled by Templars. It would be pretty weird if it wasn't possible to get the Templar Specialization.Hanz54321 wrote...

I liked Shapeshifter as well...relhart wrote...
Am I the only one that liked shapeshifter? I thought it was one of the few balanced specs in the game. All it really needed was a shorter cast time imo. I'm hoping for mostly new ones personally, most of the specs were pretty "meh" inducing in DAO.
The mage talents I thought were weakest were Blood Mage, Keeper, and Battlemage. Because I don't want to burn my life force to cast, don't want to be restricted (although I did like the Keeper spec, it wasn't powerful enough considering Dalish magic is uber ZOMG amazing). And battlemage really wasn't much... battlemagish? for lack of a better word.
