Force mage was already confirmed I believe. I hope we get more than 3 specializations and if not, the ones we get are fleshed out and badass.

I liked Shapeshifter as well...
The mage talents I thought were weakest were Blood Mage, Keeper, and Battlemage. Because I don't want to burn my life force to cast, don't want to be restricted (although I did like the Keeper spec, it wasn't powerful enough considering Dalish magic is uber ZOMG amazing). And battlemage really wasn't much... battlemagish? for lack of a better word.
I think keeper was great as a concept and not too shabby mechanically. Shapeshifter is also a great concept but its execution left much to be desired. For me, keeper fills a niche that very few other spells in Origins cover. I agree battlemage was bland. No big loss in my opinion.
I also think casting from life force is great, but feel it is handled a bit clunky in Origins. Not that I can come up with a better alternative mechanic to represent it. One of my big problems with Origins mages is how the lore emphasis how dangerous casting magic is. Yet, there are no consequence to chugging lyrium like a maniac and casting spells with impunity. Blood magic at early levels is the only time it feels like I am taking a gamble to cast my character's spells. Perhaps implementing the gamut of mage hazards would make for an annoying experience, though.

in NO particular order:
no, no, no, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
Rogue is confirmed so that leaves only
no no no yes yes yes
IThought mages were also confirmed except force mage instead of Battlemage.... so that leaves
no no yes for warriors
If you think about, you are playing human only so it could be that they leave out berserker though, guardian was handy for tanks, and you are a champion...
it could go either way for warriors honestly..

Rogues were already confirmed: Assassin (yes), Duelist (yes), and Shadow (yes.)
Mages are now confirmed: Blood Mage (yes), Spirit Healer (yes), Battlemage (no)
That leaves ' no, no, yes' for champion, guardian, and berserker

And the rogue specs are Shadow, Duelist and Assassin? Again, I liked the Ranger abilities (wolves and bears are great!). I just hope that Shadow's main sustained ability wont have your character swamped in black fog again.
I'd love to see the templar and spirit warrior abilities return. In a city of templars, it makes sense that Hawke might pick up this spec (especially after siding with them). Meanwhile, if you can learn Spirit Healer off someone, it's concievable that they could teach you Spirit Warrior as well. I'm surprised no one seems to want Reaver back. I liked that too. Similar to the other one, a Blood Mage could presumably teach you to be a Reaver.

I'm curious about Force Mage. From what I've heard it's a spec that concentrates more on spellpower.ReallyRue wrote...
So the mage specs are Force Mage, Blood Mage and Spirit Healer? Nice. Although I was one of the few who really enjoyed using the Keeper abilities. I'm not sure which I would be able to choose out of these three.

As for Shadow, I always got a bit of a Ninja vibe from that spec, you know planting decoys and using an airborn poison to confuse your enemy. So I hope they make that more ninja-ish, but yeah the black fog got a bit annoying at times.

I kind of doubt Berserker is still in...KennethAFTopp wrote...

Mostly because Oghren was a dwarf from Orzammar, and most dwarves you meet will no doubt be surface dwarves in Kirkwall. Unless there is a special way to get it, like Duelist in DA:O, I doubt it's in.

Otherwise Blood mage might have a more physical tinge to it than the others, perhaps streamlining elements of the Reaver spec into it?
I'd be happy speccing into either Blood or Force from the sounds of it... but I do have a love for the concept of Spirit Healer. Oh decisions! D:

It would be nice if Bioware would post info about specs and related info on the main site, rather than making everyone go to other sites for info. It would make things more convenient.

At least Keeper and Bard

Won't happen unfortunately although Merril's specialty may have aspects of keeper in it. Bard is a huge loss though, without it the rogue class simply lacks flavour.Thicos wrote...

IMHO there's a clear need for a 4th class, a bard/ranger class.

Force mage? It may not be Arcane Warrior but it sounds like it may be a pseudo-physical spec, so instead of actual melee combat, you'd be throwing and launching incredible kinetic (?) forces at enemies, perhaps even a 'Charge' spell maybe xD Might boost the power of Crushing Prison as well. Yep, the force in Force mage really has me thinking Star Wars' Force and/or Biotic abilities.
Looking at the icons on the mage skill trees, the force mage appears to have powers like a ME2 adept. Push and pull and something that even looks like a singularity.

Is there any way to make a Bard class interesting, though? It was just some sustainables in DA:O, unless you went the Captivating Song route (and why would you?). I like the idea of a Bard just fine, especially with the espionage flavor that DA:O described. Yet Bards in DA:O didn't play anything like spies or secret agents. Then again, I didn't find any of the specializations all that well executed in DA:O.

Ok, but it's impractical to devote an entire character to that when you could produce the same effects with a Mage and not cripple your build in the process.

Spirit Healer was amazing, and the Templar specialization was an excellent choice for tanking builds. I never found cleanse area to be all that beneficial, but Holy Smite was too great of an ability to pass up.

clense area kinda sucked because it did not work on the caster and caused friendly fire
