every time i do the first colonist mission where there is no one there the game will blink three times on the first conversation and then go all black. This forces me to controll+alt+delete. if i dont restart and try to start the game again it says that direct 3d wont work because the system is locked. I meet all the system requirements. any help?

this is not the game rather you video card is on its way out... most likely overheating problems... are you overclocking? if so reset defaults and try again.. if not then.. download ATITool and declock your card to 75% of its nominal memory clock and core clock and you may beable to play... If not try 50% declock If still no joy, buy a new video card or reseat the heatsink.
