Would it have made any difference to the outcome of the battle of Ostagar if Loghain had come to the aid of his king? Do you think the darkspawn have been driven back, or would that just have meant an even greater body count?
question about the battle of Ostagar *spoilers*

I was unaware of this even being in actual question.

That's actually hard to say. Loghain created the plan, and he never had any intention of actually following it when he designed it, so we don't have enough information to say whether or not the plan would have succeeded.
Personally, I think it would have succeeded.

It was an army the size of the one from the final battle of the game, by my impression. With a greater number of Grey Wardens. It was already experienced in several battles against the Blight. Fighting on a field of battle already held and fully prepared.
It had a better chance of victory than the player's army at the end of the game.

everything suggests the original plan was a sound one the entire plan was to trap and wipe out a good chunk of the darkspawn horde, Loghain had a very large force that when combined with their position to flank the darkspawn would've been enough to break the darkspawn lines I'm certain. How that battle was supposed to play out would've been a lot like the battle of MinasTirith from Lord of the Rings, Gondor holds out long enough for Rohan reinforcements to arrive and flank the assaulting forces.
Unfortunately it was Loghains plan to betray the king all along our PC's are just lucky Cailin insisted Alistair and Us be up in the tower instead of on the ground in the main horde, somehow I doubt Flemmeth could've picked us out of that mess.

It seemed like the Ferelden army was vastly outnumbered, even counting Loghain's men at the time, And I think Loghain had been busy throughout the game recruiting more people/mercenaries. Plus the Arl of Redcliffe's men weren't present at Ostgar, and I don't know if the Cousland army ever made it either thanks to Howe's actions in the human noble origin.

The Cousland army is present - if you're a noble Cailan mentions that Feargus if of scouting and will miss the battle. Duncan mentions then the Fereldan's army is outnumbered, but nevertheless the flanking maneuver would have worked and the Darkspawn horde would have be routed.

What sort of question is that? Loghain is the hardest hardass there is and he'd solo that ****. Of course it would've worked. HARDASS.

They would have won that engagement without any doubt. That is why his tactical choice is questioned by many. Because it doesn't seem so black and white.
If it was obvious that even if his army jumped in they would have died, his 2nd in command and the other nobles of the landsmeet will probably have much better opinion about the endeavor.
