I just don't know enough about DA2 to choose it over Deus Ex, and everything I do know has me wary.
Very true. Really promotionally-speaking BioWare is very far behind SquareEnix, and has a lot of work to do if they want to compete with Human Revolution.

I have this dillema too. I'm just going to pretend one of the games comes out later.DarthCaine wrote...
I'm getting both, but the question remains, which to play first?
F**k, extremely tough choice. So far, I'm leaning towards playing HR first

I've been playing DX a lot longer than BioWare games, so really I think I'll be playing HR before DA2.
Unless BioWare gets moving with the promotions of game (trailers, movies, gameplay info) and changes my mind. Which is definately possible.

Why not let the reviews decide what you play first?
You have a point, but reviews take time, sometimes they're not even out until 2-3 days after the game is released *cough* GameSpot *cough*. You have to be quick on these things.

I'm very picky about what games I buy. I only buy games that I really like, and every single time I've bought a game in the last 4 years, I knew even before it came out that I wanted to buy it. It was like that for ME1, ME2, DAO, and it's definitely going to be like that for DA2 and DX HR.What is this wrote...

It's not very often that a game with a good compelling story with full developed characters comes out, so when it does, I jump all over it. What, pay 20 bucks more and i get an art book and making of DVD? Sure why not, I'd rather pay more for that than do something like go to the movies, or eat out.
As for DA2, I've sort of been keeping up with info, but there's been so little released, but just for the sake that I played DAO, i'll play DA2
As for DX HR, I knew I would be buying it the moment I saw the E3 trailer. For a game company to push out such an incredibly polished trailer, that made me watch it 4 times in a row, that's rare. So I trust my intuition. And as far as presentation goes, I think DX HR has had a bit more finesse, when it comes to reveals

Well I cancelled my ME2 subscription for MAG, and I still play MAG as ME2 gathers dust.... This is going to be a tough call for future DMC12. DA2 will probably lose out though.

Thus far HR and Shogun 2 are the two games I'll be buying that month, DA2 is starting to become stale on my excito meter and knowing just how much time I'm going to sink into Shogun 2 (That is if the glitchyness of Empire has been fixed) I'm bound to all but forget about DA2 which is sad in a way.. Cmon Bio, get some vids out to swing my attention back towards you!

As far as competition goes, Witcher 2 got its release date set back and that was the biggest competition in the most vocal people's minds.

Hehe, thanks
TW2 being pushed back was advantagious, but Human Revolution is still a massively hyped game and I've been seeing a lot more excitement for it than DA2 on most sites and forums outside of this one.
And although Shogun 2 is a different genre, I would argue it's going to be the biggest game launch during that month, people have been waiting for that one forever, me included, and everything I've read about it seems amazing. Now Creative Assembly completely botched Empire, so that's tempering the excitement, but nonetheless, I'm watching it very closely.
The only thing it would take for me to get hyped about DA2 is some gameplay vids and some dialogue from both the male and female hawkes. I won't buy the game if either VA is on the same level as Mark Meer's Shepard... *shudders* From what I know of the story and the way it will be structured it seems like a really ambitious way of telling the tale, and I am looking forward to that, but until I see the actual gameplay and a few of the smaller details in action I'm going to resist pre-ordering.

Sure I'll probably buy both. DA2 is most likely going to be as long as ME2. So I'll just finish it over the weekend to get it out of the way and spend my time on Deus Ex.

Yeah, that viral site is epic. It's even got a hacking minigame that unlocks wallpaper! DA2 can wait awhile.

DA2's not ringing my bells yet. That could change but eh, I've preordered anyway. That could mean it joins the pile of unplayed games on my bookshelf. Time will tell.

Only among those who have actually played it, while the original Deus Ex has always been my pick for the top slot in the list of greatest video games ever made I am not sure the game has a big enough fanbase to sell on name alone as unfortunately the game has been ignored by a large portion of the gaming public.slimgrin wrote...

hmm... I hope this doesn't hurt the sales of HR ....
I haven't played it yet, but most consider Dues Ex to be one of the greatest pc games ever made. I think it's safe.
While I am sure HR will sell relatively well I do expect DA2 to sell more copies due to the larger fanbase regardless of which game turns out better.
That being said HR is a must get for me so I will definately get a copy however I am not so sure I will even bother with DA2, the quality of Bioware's games has been slipping over the years and so far I have yet to hear anything about DA2 that actually makes me look forward to it.

Its become fashionable to bash TW2 on these boards. People can rest assured its an isolated collection of opinions. Surf the net and guess what? Most people are more impressed with TW2 than DA2.

Diablo III will win GotY for RPGs. Diablo III will get more sales than the Witcher 2 and Dragon Age 2 combined.
