I'm definitely getting both games. DA2 just interests me, and I love the Deus Ex world.

In Exile, Sword combat in TW2 is like a hack n' slash game: you initiate and mix up your attack anyway you want. It was QTE based in the first game, but not in this one. If you have watched the vids there is a clear difference. QTE's are for special finishing moves and the like only, and like I said they are optional. Still, I'm not thrilled about it.

From what I read on the TW2 forum, the combat is still timing based. Have they now introduced separate buttons for different strikes? The only video I saw was one of the older ones where they showed a duel between Geralt and some other swordsman, which switched from combat to a cut-scene and had QTE triggers come up.

The first game isn't properly QTE because it was 1 mouse-click timing. It was sponatenous DDR popping up, which is what a QTE is really like (think God of War).

I hope it is like the first two, with the entire response layed out before the player.  Though I wouldn't mind if it had a ME-like paraphrase based system too.

I wouldn't support an emotional-based response like Alpha Protocol, though.  (Except a cross between the two like DA2 is making).

That video is like more than a year old. Combat's more like Arkham Asylum, including the stealth. All QTEs will be optional, you can kill EVERY monster without ever doing the QTEs, it'll just be a bit tougher

I have already pre-ordered TW2 so nothing more to really say about the game, the pre-order speaks for itself.

I am going to pre-order dues ex in the next few days. I new i would buy the game from the E3 trailer many months ago but held out till i had more info on the game.

For DA2 that will depend on what Bioware shows in the next two months, so far they showed nothing that has impressed me.

I seem to have missed Shogun 2 but will check it out without any delay.

I wish Bioware shows something special in the next few months as it would be great to have 3 great RPG's in one year, it would make 2011 something special.

Its a paraphrase system, but when you highlight the paraphrase, it shows the full text at the bottom of the screen.

Ahh. I like that solution! I think that was mentioned on these forums a while back as a suggestion for DA2.

You mean four:

Dragon Age 2
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Witcher 2

They've reworked their combat system inside of a year? That honestly worries me re: the stability of their release.

That's awesome.  If ME had that type of dialogue system, I wouldn't be that dissapointed over some of my choices.

I'm getting more excited.  If I find out that this game will have 20+ hrs of content, then I'm pitching my midnight preorder tent right now.  :wizard:

EDIT:  Man, wouldn't a two game midnight release event be awesome?  :o

Well lets see what they show for DA2 first before worrying on the new game announcement.

Wish they would feature this in a trailer.  The lastest gameplay video is obviously geared towards action stealth junkies.  Which is great but I want to see this dialogue system in "action".

There are "action stealth junkies?"  I view these as two distinct playstyles.  It's why a game that supports both like Deus Ex or Alpha Protocol have a lot of inherent replayability for me.

I'll be getting both on release day, but DX: HR is of greater priority to me. Everything about it, from the combat, the visuals, to the deeply layered conspiracy type story it's sure to have make it a must have for 2011.

I love Dragon Age, but right now the only reason I pre ordered the second game is because it's a sequel to the first. I mean, I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but so much remains unknown. And I get a dark feeling that it won't have the same 'feel' as its predecessor. I'm not talking about gameplay- that's fine to me. But in terms of story and atmosphere I get a sense it won't measure up.

So I'll be getting both, but Deus Ex looks far more interesting right now.

Don't you think you are requesting options for dues ex on the wrong forum?

They both are RPGs but very
different games. I think Human Revolution looks a lot more appealing
than Fallout: New Vegas. The visceral trailer of violence has me
somewhat excited because it reminds me of Ghost In The Shell and the
combat looks great.

If Deus Ex 3 is anything like the original its not an rpg. Its a FPS with rpg elements.

DarthCaine wrote...

erm, what? It's only 3 months till release, I'd say that extremly close. For Deus Ex 3 we already have tons of videos and info. The Witcher 2 is coming in May and we had more info like 6 months ago than we do now for DA2. Hell BioShock Infinite is coming in 2012 and we've seen more of it than DA2.

So what, in reality there's plenty of time to get gameplay footage and make a decision even before the cut off date for the signature edition.

The first was a clear cut RPG!  (Action RPG to be specific)

The only difference between DX and the other RPGs of its genre was that it was 1st person.

You gained experience, though you didn't level up you still needed XP to build your pistol, heavy weapon, lockpicking, etc. skills.  You were able to customize every weapon, down to mods and ammo types.  Even you can customize yourself with your nanoaugmentation upgrades.  You could even name yourself, choose skin color, and arrange XP beforehand.  You couldn't modify your face, but even your brother looked like you.  (BioWare you should have thought of that with the DA:O Origin Stories!)  You can pick each fully-voiced convo choice according to your liking, resulting in one of three endings.

The best part that I loved was that when you find a code or password, you entered a computer console and had to enter the login and password like you were logging onto it yourself, and imputing the keycard like you are opening the door yourself.

You couldn't have a preset skill because you can modify your skills over time through nanoaugs.  Stealth, hacking, lockpicking could be bypassed through pure combat.  Your choice decided how the game played.

That's a clear RPG to me.

Deus Ex is an ACTION  RPG. It's no less of an RPG than ME1, ME2, Alpha Protocol, Jade Empire or The Witcher

Eh, publishers will call anything an RPG if they think it will get them more sales.  Many action and shooter games have as many or more RPG mechanics as, say, Mass Effect 2.

Really, if people are willing to quibble and nit-pick at broad definitions, nearly everything released nowadays has RPG elements.

The 'what is an rpg' debate will never be settled on these boards, but I agree with DarthCain. Deus Ex looks like an action rpg to me as well.
