Was looking for a placed effect for a place I'm making on our pw... and it's an effect I know has been used, but even though I have all the current haks, etcetera, I'm not finding it.

Do effects have some sort of scroll-down thing like alternate tiles do, to get to variations?  For the life of me, I can't figure out why, with all the same files I've got, why I can't seem to find, for instance, all the same window-lights or force-fields...

There are vfx that are used in official campaigns that are not in the toolset. Thankfully, someone compiled them into a pack on the vault.

And sometimes (crazy, I know) providing a description of the effect you're actually looking for might be an advantage worth possibly giving away the surprise of knowing the Effect. It allows others to help you find it.

There's a couple of examples. One of them, for instance: window beams, of which there are 4, are easy. But where to find the placed light effect showing shutter-panes of glass on the floor?

Now, for the force-field stuff, if I had a name, I could give it to you. ;p But a descriptive example, how about the pink force walls, or the spiral-galaxy gnomish forcefields from SoZ?

window beams are the ones with shutter panes on the floor, they just don't look like that in toolset. They look like "god rays" which are just beams.

gnomish forcefields are part of the missing vfx pack, as well as the garius force fields and some portals.

Okay, thanks. My windowbeams don't get panes on the floor later, but that gives me the clue I've been lacking.

kamal, when you say "missing vfx pack" is that a set of vfx the developers made, but didn't set up as placeable effects in the toolset?

Yes. "These VFX’s were missing in the toolset due to them being contained
within various MODULES and not contained within the NWN2_VFX.zip or the
NWN2_VFX_X1.zip Data files.
