commander shepard training against or fighting big robots... using grenades a good idea? do you think this would be effective?

In ME1, grenades are tons of fun against pretty much everything, but tend to work best on tightly-packed groups of enemies or that one sneaky bastard hiding around a corner. In ME2, you don't have grenades, but the grenade launcher is still a viable option for taking out tightly packed groups of goons.
You want to take out YMIRs and Big Bad Geth? Use the Mako (ME1), spam powers (both), or whip out the Cain (ME2).
