So when you read books, do you first go through with a magic marker and obscure any descriptions of how a character said something as insults to your intelligence?

Because you know, the icons are the same damn thing. Sometimes I feel like I'm explaining this concept as if I am talking to two-year olds.  There is no difference between an "anger icon" and the words "he angrily demanded" or some other phrase.

I don't need a silly icon to tell me that by selecting option one it would be a romance option, if i can not tell from the text then the developers have made a mistake.

Would you like some pudding while I show you my pressed flower collection?

That didn't answer my hypothetical question.  They're not different.

I do have a problem.  I have a problem understanding how you can't see that an intent icon in DA:2 serves the same purpose as phrases in books such as like "he sarcastically deadpanned" or "she angrily demanded" and so forth.

Help me understand how the former is an insult to your intelligence.

DAII will need a [punch] and [kill] NPC icon. Make it so BioWare.

It also has the intent to treat you like a 2 year old like they do in children books with icons.

Edit:
And how does having the option to turn the icons off disturb how you play your game.

I think we've arrived to the core of the problem: this is your subjective opinion. You are entitled to having one, but stating it as if it were fact is not going to make it any less disputable than my or Shorts' opinion.

So almost every novel out there also treats you like a two year old?

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

The potential option doesn't disturb me.  It's your incredibly odd position that does.

Oh no, don't even imply that everyone's opinion has value.  I'm definitely disputing this one.  Arguments give opinions value, otherwise they're worthless..

Damn right. I demand that each book in existence be written in an entirely new tongue and alphabet, which I have to decipher first.

For me it's a fact, if you think different then it would not be a problem for you.

But having the option to turn icons off does not change your game.

If I said, "It is a fact I am actually a three-toed sloth" I would be making about as much sense as you.

This.

And for the love of ra I don't want ME2 drinking through helmets fiasco.

Honestly I rather the whole paraphrase be read when you highlight it rather than some picture. I have a feeling the icons are going to cause me to sigh on several occassions.

Don't say stuff like that. You know every time someone suggests something be put on a toggle, David Gaider strangles a puppy.

That one is new to me.

Edit: Oops, I almost acted as if everyone here was a two-year old. Fixed it.

This means it is your opinion. A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not necessarily substantiated by positive knowledge or proof.

But having the option to turn icons off does not change your game.

Gaider should do it any second now... there, /kitten.

Anyhow, of course that wouldn't disturb me. It's your thought that these icons indisputably make the game dumber that disturbs me.
Like I said in another thread, can't you just slap a piece of paper on your monitor where the dialogue icons are supposed to be?

Back at the toggle, are we?

How is this even an issue? Is the presence of an icon somehow offensive?

The questions I originally posted in this thread has already been answered. This thread should have been dead by now.
