4 cores seems to be doing the trick. If you need anymore info, do let me know.

that's very helpful! thanks mrpig... you may have just solved a huge portion of the problems with that processor...

right one hour later I can say it's still running smooth, going into orzimmar took a few seconds longer than most other places but it is a big city I suppose.

I can do no more tonight but I am happy to help :)

My problem with load times still sort of persists, but I do find rebooting every 3-4hrs helps if I'm playing that long. Definitely feels like a memory leak to me.

I did find it totally weird because of my system specs:

i7 950

12g c7 ram

quad 295

2x velociraptors (raid 0)

win7 ultimate

did you try setting to the last four cores Byakuya? I am pretty sure that's what is wrong here

I'm just curious..  Do you have a massive RAM disk or something?  What is your reason to have 12gb of RAM?

An extremely large RAM disk is the only reason I have ever considered putting more than 4gb in a desktop.

Your money probably would have been spent better on 6GB of faster timing RAM.

Win 7 can handle the massive RAM and if you're doing a lot of things at once it won't crack-up on you (for example, the game will never use more than 2 gb because it's an x86 program) but it will allow you to compile data or do CAD work

64 bit operating systems are able to support much more than 4gb of RAM, unlike 32 bit. This allows for higher resolution textures in some games (like Dawn of War 2) and various memory intensive applications like CAD apps (ANSYS, CATIA, etc.).

Interesting, I'm beginning to notice this problem as well after many hours of very fast load times and no hiccups during play on max settings, it's now slowing down sometimes and taking longer to load than normal. Running the following system:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 (Quad) 3.2 Ghz

Windows 7 Home Premium

4 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 (1GB) - drivers updated.

Noticed yesterday that when I run the game and went to task manager that the game was taking nearly 50% of the CPU.

aaronmv, please try setting affinity for the program to only the last two cores and let us know how that does please

Jironghrad - I set it to the last two cores - load times at first glance seemed ok, but as I tried loading the Denerim Market district, it gave me the usual black screen with the loading in the bottom corner. However the loading took awhile, almost seemed as if it stalls for a bit and then loads. I will continue playing and see how it acts.

does the x4 have 4 cores or 8? if 8, try bumping it up to the last 4 cores and see if that helps...

X4 has 4 cores. Still testing it out - it seems a little smoother right now.
