Twenty five years ago the Brewer family left Littlelake and moved to the area of the Wagoner’s Inn. The reason for that move is not talked about; like most tragedies of its type it is spoken of in whispers or not at all. But now the tale is relevant and must be told.

In the spring of that year a wreck landed on the beach of Littlelake. As was their way the villagers set about clubbing to death the poor survivors as, exhausted, they made their way across the rocks. Then stealing the cargo and stashing it in the secret corridors of the Landry mine. Within a few days there was little left of the wreck but flotsam.

One piece of wreckage, a box, no bigger than a mans hand, came ashore by the marsh a few days later. It was found by David Brewer, a boy of twelve. Thinking he had treasure he carried the box to the orchards to find a quiet place. Once he knew he was out if sight he opened the box.

Inside there was a stone bead, black as the dark in the mine but somehow glowing, it's darkness drawing him in, calling to him in a low whisper …

A hour later David Brewer walked back into the village and beat his younger sister to death with a mallet.

He then set about his mother who tried to pull him off his sister and would have killed her but for the intervention of his father and brothers. He fought with them until, in a final tragic end, David's life was ended by his fathers own hand. He died with the word orchard on his fetid breath.

The family searched the orchard and found the box, now closed. David’s father took the box and had it hidden for it bore the name of the wreck upon it.

Two days later the trees in the orchard began to fail, first the leaves and blossoms fell off and then the branches and trunks withered. Within a week the family had no orchard. Instead of starting again in Littlelake they buried their dead and moved on, starting new trees by the Wagoner’s inn. Again the family flourished, but none who stayed in Littlelake did. Year on year life in Littlelake got harder as if the place were cursed.

Now, twenty five years later on the box has been found and it has been opened again. This time not by a boy but by one with the intelligence to understand what the box is and the will to resist its corruption … almost.

The box is not evil but evil will come of it, and now, as darkness looms over town of Thunder Bay, that evil must be faced and put an end to for who knows how far it might spread.

Now is a time for old friends and new enemies, a time when your disparate party is needed to fight for the place and the people who nurtured them in their early adventuring years.

Now begins the night of one hundred moons.

Should that not have a question mark? He says ducking before his own spelling and grammar inadequacies are pointed out.

Thanks Kaldor,

In my mind the sword coast is a place where bad things happen.

The mod is about a neutral power being used for evil intent and the whole thing going horribly wrong.

Someone has to clean up the mess :)

I see what's going on here.

Maybe.

Now I'm really anxious to get to Thunder Bay!

Ah, very nice introduction. I look forward to The Night of One Hundred Moons. After The Last Days of the Raven that is. Are you going to be working on both simultaneously or is this just an early intro for your next mod?

Thanks all,

In a way I am working on this now. The Beauty of this mod is it will reuse a lot of areas from the first three. That will save time and let me focus on the new areas that are needed and get the convos and scripts better. I will start it after LDotR but to a degree I am working on it now.

What do you do when you have a thousand ideas and only an hour or so a night to do something with them all?

Cheers,

PJ

On another note, having recently finished Sheep and Stone and Caravan Club, I immediately recognized some of the names and places mentioned in your post. It's like you have reached the point where you have established your own canon and lore even separate from WotC stuff. That's pretty awesome.

The backdrop you have provided will make an excellent Adventure Hook.

Harumph!

Well if he's planning on jumping from that top rope, you should be grasping that chair firmly and be ready to crash it down on his opponent's head when he tosses him out of the ring. It's what Tuesday Night's all about still, right?

Thanks for the support guys it gives me a boost.

Except for rjshae - darn you Mr Hall now I need another plot Posted Image

Thanks also Dorateen I had not thought of it like that. I like stories that weave back into themselves.

Cheers,

PJ

Not sure about rope jumping, it's my back you see; ever since that elbow slam it has not been the same.

Which is why I prefer wizarding.  It's a non-contact sport.

For some reason I'm getting a Lovecraft "Colour from Out of Space" vibe from this. That can be only be good!

Sorry I was not clear in the title, this is a teaser for the mod itself which I'm estimating will be fall/wniter 2011. I post progress in my signature if it is of interest.

I hesitate to call is a horror mod as there are some high benchmarks set on that. It is going to have some very dark themes though.

I played the Cthulhu game but never read the books. My DM at the time had a very rich imagination. I sometimes wonder how he turned out as a responsible adult. There were some odd things going on in that head .. great DM though.
