That was on of the coolest thing ever. Morrigan and Me (Russell, Warrior)
Had to keep heals going at all times, and potions were a must, but I did get time to deal some damage with both Myself (Overpower), and a little with Morrigan (Winters Grasp and Lightning every so often).

I soloed it.

For some reason when it landed on top of me and sent me flying it got stuck where it was standing facing away from me.

After running up to it and getting kicked back over and over by its back leg, I realized it wasn't moving. So I backed up and shot it to death with my mage staff.

Cheesy, I know....but meh, I didn't make it get stuck :P

friend did that too. The Dragon got stuck. So he switched to range attack. Went out to lunch, and came back with a new achievement already waiting for him. XD

Looks like it's not an uncommon glitch.

I remember when the game first came out and cone of cold was so overpowered. You could solo dragons just running around waiting for your mana to regen.

I soloed the High Dragon. I didn't use a glitch. I didn't use a health or lyrium potion. I didn't use a heal spell. I didn't even run away from the Dragon. And btw: in nightmare.

This game is too easy if you build your character right.

There's only one High Dragon so yes that is what they are talking about.

The High Dragon isn't hard once you get a decent strategy. Just have it land in the middle and then spread your people out around it. Alistair or Shale do a good job of Tanking it and then just blast away on it.

I keep dying still.

My team are comprised of lvl 18\\19 - My main is a mage - although heavy on the fire - which is rather useless when it comes to the dragon. I don't have shale (ps3 without internet) - but I got Sten, Oghren and Loghain.

But I keep dying - I've been tipset on using rangers and spreading them out - but it didn't work, even with a tank - the tank dies quickly by that grab and snap move of the dragon.

I usually die about half-life on the dragon - my best is at 20% (but only happened once) - and then my last was at 40\\45% - where I ended being solo with zevran with bow (he's not an archer\\ranger, but I don't see how I can defeat the dragon with tank - I keep getting "eaten") and using up all my 48 (!!) life potions..

Yasuraka - what's your mage's specialty? What did you use on the dragon that was most effective? And what armor did you have? I got light armor - but that dragon always targets me.

^ I didn't think you could acquire Loghain that far into the story? ^

Keira: my mage was blood mage / spirit healer. she had up to fireball, blizzard, tempest, and the DLC bloody grasp ability. she was also like 20 or 21, and had like 90+ natural magic probably. equipped reaper's vestments for this fight (and the other 2 dragon fights, which she soloed as well. or, at end game, did so much of the damage that she may have as well soloed it). From what I remember, I rotated between arc bolt, fireball, cone of cold, lightning, and bloody grasp. the dragon is probably targeting you after a bit since you're probably doing the most damage.

The PS3 High Dragon can be taken out If you got poison ability and flasks of acid and shock. Oh and a mage. The archdemon the Ballistias are your best bet be sure to have trap making II to fix jams

Would be nice if your game was registered so we could share in your character build.
I take it you were a mage, cone of cold, petrify and stone fist.  around level 16+  I would guess.
What were you wearing?
I would think I am not the only one curious about your character.

I can solo the High Dragon with an Archer on Nightmare mode- but not Flemeth

The enviroment is what gets me with flemeth.

worksa8 - wow.. solo on nightmare mode? I got it on the easiests and I'm still struggling. Though I got flemeth on my third try - how strange. I found Flemeth to be much easier - she doesn't move away from her spot - so the "storm" skills of a mage can get full usage than with the the mountaintop dragon - who is far too smart.

Johnson45 - I'm not sure how to answer that without spoilers, lol. This is my first run-through, so I don't even know any other way.

yasuraka - yikes, okay you got alot more firepower than me right now. I still haven't even been able to unlock those pesky blood mage and spirit mage skillsets.

I only have fire - no lightning or cold (which I too late figured out would be helpful against a dragon), and the death cloud - it always resists curse of mortality and paralysis (single and mass) - so I'm a bit stumped. Though you used fireball - so that has some effect?

TimelordCat - posions? hmm maybe I should get some supplies and make some of that. Oh I do wish I had a ballista for the mountaintop dragon, lol. But thats a great tip, thanks! I only have the first one so far (I stopped when I just thought I could have either Zevran or Leliana with me).

Is this the High Dragon or the Archdemon? You don't get a chance to have Loghain until end game just about.

Warmth Balms = a must for fire resist, get any armor you can w/ fire resist (put Wades Superiour Drakeskin Armor on your rogue).

Tactics really depend on if you are talking about the High Dragon in the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest or the Archdemon.

You can solo the High Dragon on nightmare with the right mage build. The only tricky part is timing your heal/damage reduction so that if the dragon grabs you with it's mouth, you don't die.

You guys need to start using the mod in my sig - it results in the most epic fights on nightmare. Seriously - 60second potion cooldown means you cant spam heal and changes to resistances and damage means you have to think like the good old BG games. Try using that with these encounters.

I had no trouble with tank + archer + mage + spirit healer. The mage had to do a fair bit of healing, though, and I used maybe 1-2 lesser mana pots per caster. Key seems to be keeping everyone but the tank at range, which is why my rogue was better off sniping despite dual wield spec.

Incidentally, people bragging about how they solo this dragon on nightmare are really missing the point. Yes, we're all well aware that you can break the game if you choose. Congratulations on trivializing a solo RPG experience for yourselves.
