I did it with just my pinky toe.saphera55 wrote...
That was on of the coolest thing ever. Morrigan and Me (Russell, Warrior)
Had to keep heals going at all times, and potions were a must, but I did get time to deal some damage with both Myself (Overpower), and a little with Morrigan (Winters Grasp and Lightning every so often).

You guys need to start using the mod in my sig - it results in the most epic fights on nightmare. Seriously - 60second potion cooldown means you cant spam heal and changes to resistances and damage means you have to think like the good old BG games. Try using that with these encounters.
I think the biggest reason I don't play on nightmare is because it just seems like an unneccessary, sadistic challenge. I'm fine with a game being challenging, but there's only so far it can go before I just find it irritating and over the top. Seems unneccessary. Plus, I imagine there's more of a "correct build" for people in game and almost any deviation will screw me. If I wanted that, I'd just go play an mmo. Just my thoughts.
Keira: fireball did do some damage for me. winter's grasp always seems to be resisited, but at least cone freezes the dragon. oh yeah, I also had vul. hex and I kept refreshing it. the cooldown vs length should be perfect to let you keep it on at all times. if you can, go somewhere else and get a level, than grab vul. hex. CoM and Paralysis might actually hit at that point.

Yes but I can't play on Hard or less - I started playing on Hard and found that I wasnt even using potions nevermind chugging them down. I am not showing off - I realise many players find this game challenging but there is no question that old school Baldurs Gate/Planescape players DONT. They are the same players saying that nightmare is too easy, hence my use of his mod (and loving its effect). And no, for me it is't a struggle at all - it is challenging but tremendously fun.
This is also why I dont understand threads like this - for me, normal is uselessly easy so soloing on those levels means nothing. In fact nightmare can be a potion chug 'if' needed making that easy too - hence the suggestion of the mod (and then posting you managed to solo or duo any of the bosses - I'd 'love' to see that).

I soloed HD with Morri after the other 3 died in the first few secounds, just move when it goes up take a ranged hit when it lands witch the basic heal skill covers get a few attacks in & repeat, did use some mana pots tho. I find it a much more painfull fight when I have 4.
Archdemon is very easy just front him up all out dps, im noraly 1 war, 2 mages & 1 rouge as hunter with a pet. Totaly ignor adds to the army guys & it goes down in a few mins. when it moves onto the range only platform go to the left up the stairs & attack from up there & for the last move it will land not far behind your team rdy to finish off, I havent botherd with balista's at all recently but maybe stick the war on the one for the ranged only section.
Aways keep your dudes spread out for dragons & arch cos the aoe attacks, I use everyone in fixed postions mode & I play the war.

Baldur's Gate & PS:T weren't challenging either. No game is, if one has played through it enough.Viz79 wrote...

If it helps, the thread was necro'ed... OP posted 5mths ago. As for the mod i dunno, unless it changes AI behaviour it will not matter to me.Viz79 wrote...

the tank dies quickly by that grab and snap move of the dragon.
Does your Mage have the Force Field spell? If so, you can cast it on the tank (or whoever) when they get grabbed and the dragon won't be able to hurt them. Meanwhile, everybody else can be stabbing it in the toe while it shakes your tank around.

You know that actually sounds like a great idea. I wonder if Bioware would consider implementing that into Dragon Age 2 (or the next Dragon Age expansion)

Can I ask - is that the one on the mountain top ? I'm struggling like H''' to defeat that thing right now.
There's only one High Dragon so yes that is what they are talking about.
The High Dragon isn't hard once you get a decent strategy. Just have it land in the middle and then spread your people out around it. Alistair or Shale do a good job of Tanking it and then just blast away on it.
Unless you count Flemeth as one. But she's not as hard as the mountain top HD for my PC and her trusty gang of misfits, that's for sure. I don't solo anything purposely. I love traveling/fighting with my allies, and that's is one reason I dislike the fade. It's too lonely.
