Helmets

...but it looks very likely that you will be able to hide your helmet while still enjoying the statistical protection it offers in DA II.
I know this particular feature was something a few people held near and dear to their hearts, so there you go. Breaking news straight to the forum. Not something I do often, but hey, it's late, I'm tired, have a cookie.
And you know the best part? I'm willing to bet there's a sizeable number of people who will see the new helmets (for all classes) and not bother turning them off at all, because they are wicked.
Happy Monday, folks.

Though I am kind of sad I will not have to splash the wine in front of my helmet and hope some seeps through into my mouth... o wait, wrong game.

Good news: I really hate to have dialogues with helmets that hide facial expression.
Oh, well, that was always in; like Origins even if your helmet is visible in combat and explore, it comes off for dialog. This option won't affect that behavior.

Still there was the occasionally cut scene that seemed to really lose something when having a helmet on. Also think ya'll could slide a "This is a good idea, take note note" over to the ME3 team? My Sheps all have drinking problems!

Thank you, kind sir. I promised Epler my firstborn but I'm sending it to you (but do not tell him).
Won't he notice when he fails to get a baby in the mail?

I bet whoever was responsible for accepting the original mage hats thought they're wicked, tooMike Laidlaw wrote...

This is nice news, i've spent my DAO playthroughs mostly without helmets so that's a welcome change.
While on this subject though, wonder if there's something else that could be done... In DAO each helmet category would, when worn, automatically turn off rendering of either the character's haircut or entire head except for the eyes. What i wonder about is, could DA2 get a slightly different, additional helmet category here -- one which wouldn't remove any part of the character's mesh?
Such helmet type could be then used to provide the character with accessories other than typical helmets. Like circlets, glasses, earrings and other such items, which shouldn't conflict with the character's haircut. Not necessarily by the stock game, but maybe just leaving such option open for the mods down the road...

This is a sweet feature though, thanks for the tidbit.

Well, it depends. Some helmets remained visible during dialogues and other were hidden (the first helmet that was not hidden that comes to mind is the blood dragon armour one but maybe even the Corruption helmet). But reading your reply I assume that it was not intented and that I should consider it a glitch for certain items.
But sorry: I do not want to make a discussion. My answer was not clear in good part and you were right correcting me.

What i like about Bioware game is usualy you don't need high end equipement at all to complet the game, player skill and tactic compensate.
Still, i'm pleased if i can finaly hide the helmet.
No matter the look of them, if they cover all the face i won't make them appear, unless it is on a agly character, but if i like his design, no chance that i will enable the helmet
But if helmet add to design instead of hiding face, i will reconsider it.
(i usualy find an armored character without helmet more bad ass as he seems to be so good that helmet is useless, just my opinion and preference though)
