I think that would be an amusing experiment though. Develop a game with real time updates with everyone on staff mandated to post every change or update of significance.
Well, it'd be amusing for me.

You could power a hydroelectric dam with the flood of nerd rage tears that such an action would case....this must be implemented at once!

Can you imagine? Agonizing over the inevitable cutting process that every game goes through, things that you would never normally hear about? Half the people on this forum already seem to think the game is designed by committee.

I can imagine it starting out well, and eventually degenerating into a flood of curses, typos and the textual equivalent of Lovecraftian horrors.

Electronic Arts/Bioware could announce the decision to implement such a scheme as part of their commitment to clean, sustainable energy!

Day 73 - I know people complain about crunch, but it's not really that bad! I'm a little tired, sure, but nothing out of the ordinary!

Day 91 - Slept in until 10AM today. I'm beat! Well, crunch is a little tiring, but still! People overstate how exhausting the video game industry is.

Day 116 - Drank about a pot's worth of coffee today. Came in after an all-nighter to discover that I'd created a striking visual montage to the works of Pink Floyd.

Day 154 - I've started to see things. Hear voices. There is a secret buried in our dialogue system, and I will find it. I must find it. Nothing else matters.

Day 176 - There is no John, only Zuul.

First off, I promise nothing. Anything can happen between here and March....

...but it looks very likely that you will be able to hide your helmet while still enjoying the statistical protection it offers in DA II.

I know this particular feature was something a few people held near and dear to their hearts, so there you go. Breaking news straight to the forum. Not something I do often, but hey, it's late, I'm tired, have a cookie.

And you know the best part? I'm willing to bet there's a sizeable number of people who will see the new helmets (for all classes) and not bother turning them off at all, because they are wicked.

Happy Monday, folks.

Helmets are fine and I'd actually prefer them to remain on during the cuts scenes assuming they are the kind that show the face.  That or anything that covers the face has a face shield and there is a face model with the face shield lifted for cut scenes.  Doubt that would ever happen though.

If the next step involves any one of:

- cutting oneself and painting pyramids and puzzles with blood
- being impaled on a spike
- drinking black blood
- declaring that pastries are fake

Then I'm officially afraid of crunch time.

Judging by John Epler's Zuul reference I imagine such a scheme would result in Bioware's collective fatigue and frustration conjuring up a vast, building-sized, marshmallow mascot which would terrorize Edmonton.

Don't forget the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. He must make an appearance!!!!!! Think about it: we'll have enough marshmallow for a year's worth of smores!

If he doesn't eat us that is.

Well, the question is which Bioware employee would crack first under pressure not to think of anything, and what they'd dream up as their most harmless mental image.

Although it's something minor, it's good news for me. More customization options is never a bad idea, especially for RPGs. So, kudos to Mike Laidlaw for taking seriously the (reasonable) requests of some DAO gamers. This thread is proof.

This could work as viral marketing, you know. And everybody would be like

"Pink Floyd? Pink Floyd?! What does it mean?!?!" You know you want it to be so.

You've never played Daggerfall, have you.

More COSMETIC customization options = good.  (Generally.)  Feature creep in every aspect of the game with 90% of the content being randomly generated = not good.  Having to do a dungeon that consisted of 30 miles of corridors and 3 rooms for EVERY SINGLE QUEST = not good.  Having to save the game before you accept the quest in case the randomly generated dungeon is unsolvable because the lever to open the stupid locked door is BEHIND THE DOOR = not good.  Getting kicked out of the guild with infinite numbers of assassins chasing you across the entire world because you couldn't finish the damn quest due to buggy dungeon = not good.  Getting quests to cast random spells on random nameless NPC's in random houses in random towns--spells you may not actually be able to get because the stupid random shops don't have the exact one you need = not good.

I'm happy about the helmets, but let's not go crazy here.  Also, I would find it very enjoyable to have a quick humorous dialog that goes about like this:

Aveline:  Mmmr mphf mrf mm.
Hawke:  WHAT?!?!?!
Aveline: (removes helmet)  I SAIIIID . . .
Hawke:  Just take the stupid helmet off first next time, sheesh.
