Legacy - The Dark Age of Britain
It is a dark time in 6th Century South-West Britain as its inhabitants struggle with enemies both within and without. The Saxon hordes have conquered Britain, and now they march toward Wales. After the death of the High King Uther the Pendragon, the petty local kings squabble amongst themselves, ignoring the threat to the east. With no clear victor in sight it seems none can gather the might of Britain to stand against the coming onslaught. Tales have spread of an heir to the throne of Dumnonia, a boy named Arthur and the purported son of the late Uther. Yet he is still a boy - and no mere boy could rule of all free Britain.
Become a part of the intrigue of this contentious setting. Filled with equal parts of Arthurian and Celtic legend and sixth-century Britain's historical realities, a new world awaits for players to explore and shape. The old pagan faith of the druids will clash against the new faith from Rome and its belief in one god and no others. And with all of eastern Britain fallen to the Saxon hordes, the last remaining Briton kingdoms will struggle to protect their borders from without, while their lords will battle for supremacy and the right to claim the throne of the High King within.
Knight or Rogue. Druid or Priest. Lord or Vagabond. Warlock or Warpriest. What will you be?
Legacy: Dark Age of Britain features the following:
- E8 Leveling system, where the level progression is capped off at level 8 and further advancement is by feats alone
- The Legacy system, a scoring system that takes the place of alignment
in order to make one's roleplaying and not one's XP the true source of
one's power and fame
- A new combat system which incorporates armor's capacity to reduce damage instead of D&D's armor class (AC) system alone
- A new magic system which utilizes a pool of spell points instead of
memorized spells, and which requires casters to actually learn each
spell they gain from their travels in the world, not merely select them
on levelup
- A 3 respawns (and 3 respawns only) death system
- No Alignment
- Completely original classes and abilities
- Dozens of new and customized spells, feats, and combat animations
- Creatures based on the mythology of the British Isles
- And more!
