If you claim a day, where is the proof of that?

Cailan says as much when you arrive at Ostagar.  "Tomorrow's battle will be no different".

Unless you would prefer to assume there was a battle then, and the one shown in the game is a different one or delayed from what he expected.  However, I would suggest Duncan's meeting with the PC and Alistair, starting with "You heard the king" and briefing them on the battle plans, supports the idea that the battle takes place the same night/early morning your PC does the Joining.  Anythign else would presume some lost time not shown in game.  Now, I'm sure my poor, tired PC would appreciate that, but it is an assumption.  Heh.

That may be true, but that also assumes that the spot Alistair was to lead you to for the treaties was right outside the camp.  This was not the impression I got, but, the whole timeframe between the origin end and Ostagar is muddy, at best.  However, since time is relative in game, taking Redcliffe as an example, you can go to the camp 10 times after you get everything set up, and never trigger the fight.  If you go to the Brecilian Forest, however, it does start.  However, if you stay in Redcliffe, you can run around looting chests, getting the herbs and such, and the battle won't start until you tell somebody you are ready.

I assume the afternoon is taken up with the Tainted Blood quest because Duncan also tells you that the Joining would be happening that night.

You might have been late with the excursion with the additional complication of traveling to Flemeth's hut, but I feel that the conversations all point to a pretty busy day for the PC. :)

Eh? I think it's unconvincing more because it's only recently that Cailan has stopped doing everything Loghain tells him. Every other time they've done this, Cailan has eventually said: "Yeah, you're right, lets do things your way."

This "fact" is based on a source other than the game, I'm sure. This is not true with the game-incarnations of these characters, as far as I know.<_<

No, this does come from the game, chat up Anora.  I expended all her dialog options in my last play through, and got this from that conversation.

Hm, then I'll need to pay closer attention.
