My party has just rescued Imoen from Spellhold and we have a reputation of 17 (Heroic).
Every time I get an increase to reputation, Viconia (the only baddie in my party) whinges about it. I've told her to shut up and even rejected her amorous advances on two occasions now.
I was led to believe that evil NPCs will leave the group once Rep hits 18 so I want to avoid this, and have been careful with missions and dialogues for a while now. Then I found a 'Belt of Alignment Changing' and promptly gave the cursed object to Viconia.
Now she is Neutral Good and has stopped whinging about stuff in general, but will she stay with the party if my Rep goes any higher?
Since she became good she hasn't said anything and hasn't been involved in any dialogue at all. This is strange seeing as she had been bugging Amber for hours prior to the belt.
Thanks in advance.
Will changing Viconia's alignment stop her from leaving

I think if you change her alignment when your reputation is already in the critical zone (19, 20) she will leave regardless. I've had no problems changing it when the reputation was lower though and she was happy to stay at rep20.

Cool. Thanks Taifun.
I'll carry on doing good deeds then.

In BG1 I have noticed that she cannot use some equipment for druids and fighter/druids only if you change alignment. (Items from mods) That could apply in BG2 as well.

An alternate way of dealing with this problem, after Spellhold, would be to turn into the slayer and thus lower your party Rep whenever it threatens to hit 19. That way Vicky could remain her usual sarcastic, ****y self in her interactions with the rest of your party. Also there is a Mod (Happy Party?, or a name something like that) that keeps NPCs from leaving.

I don't think the developers thought of the possibility of you changing somebody's alignment when they wrote the dialogue (it's only possible through use of Shadowkeeper or mods after all). I never saw any differences in my experiments either.

If you have a 20 reputation with her in the party, she will not leave...unless you LOWER your reputation to 19 or 18 (lowering it to 17 or less would be fine). This works fine on most evil NPCs, but is hard to pull off with Viconia because usually you do it by adding/remove the evildoer before you change your reputation to 20...but Viconia lowers it by 2 whenever she joins.
If you cheat her to a non-evil alignment, then she behaves as if she was that alignment. Just don't take the belt off. (and if it's a belt, that's some kind of mod item, there is a helm of opposite alignment, but it's absurdly hard to get in BG1, and not available in BG2 at all without cheating).
