Sometimes, I'm astounded by my own laziness.

Why, on Saturday, I only came in for seven hours instead of ten! And I took a Friday off back in mid November to move.

It's difficult to live with myself.

Oops. I think I hit the 'snark' button by accident.

Do you still remember what your family looks like?

Although, granted, I've worked hours like these before when my job consisted of sitting at a desk.  I have lots of stamina for sitting at a desk.  When my job consists of standing, lifting, bending and answering idiot questions all day, I'm out of there like a bat out of hell when my shift's over.  Which is good, because I'd get canned if I accidentally got overtime anyway. :P

well, it seems that wanting DAII to be DA:O's sequel deserves a "deal with it or GTFO"

Wanting DA:O to be BGII's sequel was met with exactly the same response.

More to the point, what features you think make DA2 a sequel to DA:O might not be the same features others think make it a sequel, beside (as of now) fabrications like hack & slash combat.

I am. Quit asking!

I've always felt that I didn't know even a little about how videogames were made until I got into this industry, so i enjoy explaining some of what goes on behind the scenes (when I am permitted). i'm also a big fan of consumers exercising their might, so you'll see me sometimes flip-flop between "sorry, company's gotta do what it's gotta do" and "gamers of the world unite!" They're not mutually exclusive, but it does make me sound a bit inconsistent.

But as a developer and a Moderator here, i'm always happy to engage our community members in discussion. As long as they're discussing something and not demanding it, that is. ;)

Indeed, this board shows that people who create games, unlike people who sell them, really love their job. I asked on EA's forums why I couldn't buy Deathspank and Shank in my region ; thread got deleted without any explanation ; I asked again, got deleted again without any warning ; bewildered, I read the forum rules and saw nothing wrong, so I asked my question one last time. Got banned from EA's forums, without any warning or explanation ! To think that a company whose job is to communicate communicates less than you guies says it all about passion !

I totally agree with the OP here. Bioware is the best when it comes to hands-on stuff with their fans. Only CD Projekt and Bethesda are even in the same ballpark, but though they're really solid people, they're not even close. Someday, maybe, but Bioware's got a lot of years on CDP.  Years aren't the only reason, though, of course, or Bethesda would win (founded in 1986, if I'm not mistaken.)

Really, we're lucky they keep coming back to these forums. Sure, it's good PR and all, but you know they don't do it just for that. There are plenty of developers who make a killing without ever presenting a personal face. The hands-on stuff is actually part of Bioware's identity as a developer, I would say, and I love that about them.

I'm inclined to agree. my first thread was answered by a mod... and it was probably a very obscure question to begin with. I have a hard time getting clarification from a normal mod in GT on some rules... yet a dev is able to answer questions on how the HUB system will work in DAII.

I totally appreciate this ease of communication.

IMO ..Dev/Consumer interaction via the official developer forum is of huge importance to the community and greatly appreciated by the forumites.

We'll know the games going to be crap when you all flit off to twitter . I like Stanley the best, he's so inconsistent.

It's also because they know that much of the criticism we give them is because we care, too. They want their games to be good, as do we. We just have some differing opinions about what makes games good.

Many people here really liked DA:O, and are very concerned by how DA2 is different from DA:O in aspects other than the story.

We're their biggest critics because we're their biggest fans.

Second biggest critics, actually. I doubt you'll find anyone more critical of their own work than the people who create it ;)

I don't know

Silicon Knights  kept saying Too Human was AWESOME right until the first reviews came out LOL

so hum....really what kind of ritual sacrifice do I have to perform to know about NG+ in DA2?

I'll join the lovefest. I'm usually whining on the DA2 forum, but I'm really impressed by the dev responses and the fact that they are here at all.

I decided in the last couple days that I'll be pre-ordering, even though there are a lot of things I've heard about the game I don't like. But I believe in rewarding good storytellers. Kind of a sacred duty. So a game company that has storytelling as a priority deserves a little faith.  WTH, I don't have a life anyway.  Posted Image

i like how you look at it.

But seriously BW is awesome. THey are when i think about it probably the most responsive company to fans:P

we love you guys too BW even if our love occasionally comes as snide criticisms about various features in your games in the hopes you will listen and improve and so far you have. When people complained about DLC lack, the combat, and the item overflow you did change ME2 unfortunately it hurt story now if you can make an epic story and combine ME 1 and ME 2 i'm sure ME 3= EPIC WIN putting about 2 or three minor RPG makers our of business for good.

This thread reminds me of a similar thread in the old ME forums i put out for thanking the Tech support and the BW guys community for their help to me here(by here i mean in PC gaming)  unfortunately the tech threads don't seem to be nearly as courtious as they used to be but most of the people are still better than those elsewhere ^^
unfortunately that thread was shut down by evil chris But he said thank you first :P

.....i miss his cynasims and sarcasm v.v

You are mistaken, before ME2 was out the ME devs posted about the same as the DA2 devs.

See Below Quote  .... Remove the GTFO  and  it is  actually  pretty close  to  perfect.

These threads  serve  a single purpose and that is  to  ineffectually distract us from the oncoming Port.

Nothing anyone (customer wise)  says matters at this point,   I wonder  If there is Anyone  (besides myself) who remembers  the Pre  Dragons Age Origins Threads...... the warmth and happy  threads (with not a single LOCKDOWN!)   to be read.

Now  look and  count the  number of negative or LOCKDOWN! threads.

How delusional does one need  to be to not  "get it".??

For the Traditional   RPG  (Dragons Age Origins-esq) style loving gamer   this  is   such a departure, it is jarring,  it  is obvious and like   death  and taxes, it is inevitable,  resources   are not unlimited, and  Consolesm NOT PC's  are the future (for So many  reasons).

There is ONLY ONE  WAY this could be worse...

If   Dragons Age Origins  were like a one-time tasty meal  never to be reproduced again...

but it  is not, it can  be replayed (6 times   without   even thinking)  and   with Nexus Website, new items, weapons , outfits, even missions  are possible.

So (Belatedly) I  thank you Bioware for the Game "Dragons Age Origins"  sometimes  when you make a "10"  its  sadly all down hill from there.

Seasons Greetings

Yuni  <3

See  below for refenced  quote.

Must've been using different forums then. I remember roughly the same amount of doom-saying I see right now. Especially from people complaining it wasn't old-school enough.

Threads get locked because they become insulting, or veer off topic. I've seen and taken part in many extremely negative threads that never get locked.

Selective memory at work, here.  Some negative threads get locked, some don't.  Has nothing to do with them being critical.

To the point Yuni....and agree.

Though it is still appreciated that they participate and give explanation on some issues. They could be all on Twitter and ignoring everyone.

They may not be as another poster stated 'The Best' Devteam...but they certainly are one of the few remaining that bothers to use the official forum.

Kudos to them for that..

Indeed, it was very much the same as it is now. If anything, I'd say they're locking far less threads now than back then, especially now that there's no longer a 10 page limit to threads.

The only reasons threads get locked are:

a) They drift completely and hopelessly off-topic.

B) They descend into personal attacks and strawman arguments.

c) The topic doesn't contain any possibility for discussion.

d) It duplicates another thread.

I mean, you can certainly believe otherwise, but I'm going to have to disagree. If anything, I think some of us are more tolerant towards leaving negative threads open because we don't want to be seen as censoring debate.
