I suppose there's no harm in her telling the truth and explaining her feelings, but the way she said "You must be incredibly strong willed commander"... I dunno it just sounded a little flirty to me. Could be mistaken of course but that's how I experienced it.

Chief Williams thought so too ^_^

I know it's abit late. But I had to do it. And yeah, I know it not Liara's green/white labcoat.

*snip*

Hah! My canon Shepard actually wears the labcoat as her casual attire, as it reminds her of the time that she spent with Liara, and the depth and beauty of their romance.

When Liara visits the Normandy, however, she changes into her smart, sexy dress, as she wishes to look her best for her date with her girlfriend. ^_^

I personally cannot stand the labcoat on Maleshep!  But it does look okay on Femshep for some reason.

Officer clothes/maleshep-suit FTW!

Could be mistaken of course but that's how I experienced it. I don't mind but... It just felt awkward after having known her for.. a few minutes. Again it could just be that I experienced it differently than BioWare intended. But that's how I felt about it. Everything's open to discussion though (at least everything about LiaraPosted Image)

I do believe she wanted a relationship, but just wanted to take things slow.  I guess I never saw the "You must be incredibly strong willed, Commander" as intentional flirting.  I do recall that Kaidan seemed a bit upset after Liara told this to Shepard, so it appears that he took it as 'flirting' (and was a bit jealous).  However, I don't think Liara herself intended it to be flirtatious....she was just being honest.  Shepard went through a lot with the beacon and it's a miracle she survived and was sane.

Oh she definately did. Right after Liara said that I felt like: Oh dear... I hope they get along. If playing as FemShep (I have to get the full experience so I play both male and female shepards) kaidan will say the same thing but it sounds less jealous. But yeah thanks for bringing that up, it pretty much shows Kaidan/Ashley considered Liara to be flirty in that scene. And they didn't like it one bit obviouslyPosted Image

Erm... how do you put in multiple quotes in 1 post? Sorry, newbie forum user.

Anyways. What you say rings true. Liara's remark there WAS flirty but she didn't intend it that way. I suppose it adds to her character, she's inexperienced dealing with humans and is afraid to say something stupid... In depth study eh Liara? <-- Thought that was a very sweet but weird conversation.

Or, her lips were retconned to a new color. They are blue now!

I have noticed that other asari in game have a lip color that matches their skin color.

Actually, I've been replaying ME1 on the 360, and I've noticed her lips are blue in that version. Not dark blue like in LOTSB, but blue. Or maybe it's just the lighting. I'll take another look later.

I never perceived that line to be flirtatious, to be honest.

Furthermore, one has to consider that Liara is a Prothean expert, and is familiar with their technology. As a result, Liara would both realise and appreciate that Shepard's ability to endure the visions from the beacon is truly remarkable, moreso than any other squadmate. Consequently, Ashley or Kaidan would not understand that Liara is merely being honest about Shepard's strength of will, and erroneously interpret it as flirting.

I have yet to see a single male Shepard who looks good in the labcoat.

While combined with the right face, a female Shepard can look... what's the word?... ah yes; foxy.

But in general, I leave the labcoat to Liara's expertise.

This.

The labcoat is part of Liara's character. Even if she doesn't wear it in ME2.

Yes, MaleShep in the lab coat is awkward looking.  FemShep can pull it off nicely cause she's curvy.;)

Exactly, it's just that in our Western human culture, giving someone you just met a compliment like that is seen as flirting or fawning over someone.

I never found the 'in-depth study' thing to be intentional flirting either...just due to her inexperience with humans and social situations in general.  Liara treated the exchange with Shepard as another science project because that's what she knows.

I actually love her new armor in LotSB. It really suits her. Kind of like an armored labcoat.

Indeed, and I see she can wear medium now. Must've gained a few levels in those two years :)

They've always looked pink to me...granted, it's been a long time since I played the XBox version of ME1.

Likewise, and I think it reflects her character rather well. Intelligent, scientific and wise, but also strong, powerful and mature. I think it's almost the perfect attire for her.

No I didn't experience the in depth study as flirting. Just gave an example of Liara saying something she didn't think through too well because of her inexperience dealing with people. Pretty much what you said actually...

Edit: I always found that white armor matched Liara very well. Can't explain why. In ME1 wherever possible I equipped her with Ursa armor (because the colour) and I was pleasantly surprised Liara switched to a nice set of armor for the LotSB mission, and then the nice dress for the cabin scene naturally...

I don't the lab coat is actually a lab coat since half the people on Illium seem to be wearing them (e.g. the random clerk who gets shot at the end of Miranda's loyalty mission). It's probably just some kind of futuristic business casual wear.

Wonder if that works but I'll give it a shot. Random clerk... erm.. who are you talking about? Only person I can remember getting shot at the end of Miranda's loyalty mission is Niket.... Can't really remember what he was wearing.

Edit: Whaddayaknow.. it actually worked. ThanksPosted Image

The shipping clerk that runs away once Miranda/Shepard encounter Niket and the Eclipse woman.  The Eclipse merc shoots her in the back.

^Ahh yeah I remember now. How could I forget that one. That was pretty over the top I think. Shipping clerk running away and then getting shot in the back. Reminds me a little of Warden Kuril shooting a bunch of prisoners with his revenant machine gun (wielding it in 1 hand I might add)

yeah that kinda coat is quite common...but I think the color cheme is the important factor defining the coats use.

btw. I always hate that scene because we cant stop her from getting killed and Shepard reacts so "Huh...someone innocent just died...yeah whatever"

I agree. My desired paragon interrupt would've killed the scene though. I'd have shot that asari's hand off when she tried gunning down the clerk. But that would've left us without a proper boss fight. Unless niket suddenly picks up the shotgun and starts shooting... though that wouln't have done the mission much good..

Everyone in the ME universe wears some minor variation of the same three or four outfits, to be honest.

Well, except for the ME2 squad and now Liara...they get cool unique outfits.
