Actually, I've been replaying ME1 on the 360, and I've noticed her lips are blue in that version. Not dark blue like in LOTSB, but blue. Or maybe it's just the lighting. I'll take another look later.

They've always looked pink to me...granted, it's been a long time since I played the XBox version of ME1.

Yeah, it was just the lighting. But I think it's her normal lip colour, since she has a pinkish nose, and some pink around her eyes.

Anyways, I wonder if Liara will be the focus in the fem version of the digital comic. If she is, 2 points for Bioware for setting up a lesbian romance as the main focus of the comic.

Fill me in on the details here. The digital comic is.. the introduction to ME2 (and pretty much replacement for ME1) for PS3 players right? Smart PS3 players will still get the ME1 pc version and play that first before even thinking of playing ME2 but I guess it's a decent way to fill people in on all that's happened in ME1.

@TMA LIVE

The lip colour is a little more pale in my pc playthrough, not that it really matters. Never noticed the pink around her eyes and on her nose though. Like you said, must be the lighting.

Not sure if that's a good idea though. If you're going PC for ME1, you might as well go all the way for ME2.

And the other thing, the pink is still on her nose in LOTSB, so it's a natural thing.

Anyways, I'm reading a bunch of hate for Liara after the comic came out. Lots of people are claiming she's being forced as the canon LI. Personally, I think Bioware is doing this more for marketing reasons, to promote LOTSB and the Redemption comic. But what do you guys think?

Without wishing to go off on a tangent, but words cannot describe how monumentally stupid I think these people are. Why direct their hate at Liara, when it should be the developers are writers that are the focus of their ire? Any individual that attacks Liara due to this comes across as being bitter and resentful, and is targeting the wrong entity.

Frustration is understandable, and I can see why people might feel this way. Frustration directed at Liara, when it is the writers who should be blamed, is just plain daft.

I'd say the purpose of the comic is to let PS3 players have a go at major dicisions from ME1, so they can define their Shepards and not be stuck with the default version.

My personal feeling is that the VS characters aren't terribly interesting as romance options.  It's more like they were humans who had names and were around the same age as Shepard, and that's why they became LI.  I like Ash and Kaidan as characters, but as LI they seemed to be a little forced.

It could very well be that marketing is trying to push Redemption and LotSB, but it could also be because Liara is (at this point) more integral to the story.

I fail to see how she's being forced as the canon LI when it's up to the player to decide who to romance. Somebody may decide that Asari don't appeal to him/her and go for Ashley/Kaiden.

And there is no such thing as "canon" in ME, since every game imports the player's decision from the previous one. The only downside to the LI's in the comic is that you have no way of getting to know them, which means you may as well flip a coin and let it decide.

If Ash/Kaidan get their DLC, then they're just as important. There's no reason to turn this into a "who's better?" I don't like what they did, and think Ash/Kaidan should of had their own stoplight in the comic as a LI option before the choice appeared. However, this is Bioware's fault. Blame them.

Oh I do blame bioware . Trust me I do.  : ) And Ash and Kaidan are important even without a dlc. I felt Liara was important to my Shep and still is.

What do you mean by 'focus' of the fem version of the comic?

The LI focus depends on who the player picks anyway.  The person running the other demo could have just as easily picked Ashley and she would be featured more.

I think he means that the femshep version will use the same lines regarding Liara.

Yeah, but I mean, Liara's the intro with the one being in the foreground, and being intro'd as the one with feelings. Plus Hale having the same lines as Meer. That's what I mean by focus.

I think he's wondering if the female dialogue will be the same. Some people feel that the comic focuses more on Liara and makes other LI's seem like background noise.

It would be interesting to know if Kaiden was focused on more than Liara, but I doubt it - I'm sure the dialogue is the exact same.

If he is, then I guess Kaidan fans have nothing to complain about.

I have a feeling the 'romance' dialog won't be the same, but Liara will still get more focus story-wise in that version of the comic than the others (Kaidan).

iirc correctly Ash was introduced as "a soldier" while Liara was introduced as "as intelligent as she is beautiful who, like any other asari, can meld with any other species". I think that's fairly biased towards Liara LI.

Given the fact that this comic appears to have been horribly rushed, I'd be astonished if different scripts were written for both DudeShep and FemShep.

I think the romance dialogue will be identical, with the obvious exception of the featured human squadmate.

You kind of get the feeling that Ashley is just a bitter, jealous soldier. I mean, just from how they are drawn and how the dialogue describes them. It doesn't say much about Ash and Shep, but when Liara starts to reveal feelings, Shep says that Ash noticed and was concerned.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Liara, but it's gotta be your choice. I don't want PS3 players to choose her just because the other options seem like the 'lesser choice'. While we may feel that Liara is the better choice, that opinion has come from our own time and dedication to the game - an opportunity that should be alloted to to PS3 players.

Well, at least to some extent. If you won't play the original game, there's only so much we can do.

They should just send people to this:
http://www.youtube.c...3E812A3CC3D0237
It even has a (very well-edited) opening sequence for every episode, just like a TV show. It's been an invaluable reference.

Yes, that series is very well done.  I would hope some PS3 players would look it up but I think most won't.

We'll just have to wait and see when it's released, I guess.

I would hope that Liara is not objectified in the FemShep version, though. However, I realise there's a remote chance of that being the case.

She'll still be depicted as the busty, blue, alien schoolgirl that is able to have mindsex with Shepard.

Well, most of that is in the pictures, so there's no change, unless they focus on Kaidan.

But ya know what really grinds my gears about ME2??
The fact that TIM tells you Liara's been working for the SB and that she can't be trusted, when he KNOWS this isn't true! He put me and my crew in harms way with that fake intel and we barely escaped the collector ship. He put Ashley in danger, and risked the lives of an entire colony to lure the collectors to Horizon. But when he deliberately tried to trick me into thinking Liara was untrustworthy and meddled in our relationship!!!

Shepard: You nearly got Ashley killed by using her as bait on Horizon.
TIM: Well, we had to lure the Collectors in somehow.
Shepard: Eh, she was mean to me anyway.

Shepard: You just tried to feed us all to the Collectors.
TIM: I didn't risk your lives unnecessarily.
Shepard: It's cool, I'm just sayin'....

Shepard: Where's Liara?
TIM: She can't be trusted.
Shepard: I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions.
TIM: Uh, Shepard, this is a holographic comm. You can't falcon-punch me from there.
Mordin: Not true! Research Tantalus device. Kill anyone, anywhere, any time. [sniff] Expensive upgrade though.
