@Tancho I can relate to what you've said here. It was really rough to play through all of ME2 (before LotSB) with no idea where the romance with Liara was headed. Actually it was maddening.
@jlb524 your interpretation of why Liara shakes her head after the kiss, is almost exactly how i've come to interpret it. I also think that Liara feels she needs to give Shepard a chance to get to know the "new" Liara before jumping back into a romantic relationship. Keeping in mind that for Shepard, they've been apart for what... a few weeks? I feel like Liara knows this and maybe thinks to herself "Wait Liara... It's been two years. You're different now. Take a step back and give Shepard some time to see how you've grown.. How you've changed.
It's like that saying.
If you love something, set it free.
If it comes back to you, then, it's yours.
I see this as a very respectable and responsible reason for Liara to push, especially when Shepard keeps making it clear that she wants Liara back.

Yeah, I think it's something like that. Too much emotions. One part of her was so happy to see Shepard after so long, she was compelled to kiss him. But it's also been 2 years, and she might not want to jump into a relationship with Shepard.

I find this humorous for some reason....this whole ME1 comic/import into ME2 PS3 is a complete fiasco. They should have just pretended ME1 never happened...which is kind of what they are doing anyway.

I interpret her head shake the same way. I was saying 'what does that even mean, argh' from the point of view of Shepard. If someone came and passionately kissed me after a., thinking I was dead, and b., not seeing me for two years, the head shake would befuddle me.
I mean, not that I'd complain about the kiss...

Even though me2 is on ps3 now it still doesn't feel like the real experience you know?
Sure they got a comic to make their story but i think that is awful.
the whole idea is to actually play me1 to get the story you get in me2 :/

^Very true. If I were a PS3 owner and hadn't played ME on pc I would probably still have tried the ME1 pc version. Problem is: When you already have the ME1 pc version why would you play ME2 on PS3 other than to see the game run on the ME3 engine... unless your PC can't run ME2 of course but.. what are the odds.
Only other quick alternative to the comic I can think of would be an Xbox --> PS3 port (no big expert so if that's not even possible don't flame me for it) but thinking back about the console --> pc port of SWTFU 1... I doubt people would be happy with the results.

That sounds similar to the bug where you can have Kaiden run towards female Shepard during Collector attack on Normandy SR1, despite having Shepard romance Liara in ME1.
My solution is to always leave Kaiden to die on Virmire, especially since Ashley is much more useful in my ME1 setups.

Reminds me of my first ME1 playthrough where I picked up Liara after Feros and my maleshep already had something going with Ashley. Didn't want to be forced to choose between Ashley and Liara (couldn't turn down Liara either) so when Virmire came.. well... Sorry Ash but you were with the bomb and I had to save as many people as I could (clever cover up eh)
Edit: I think Kaidan has his uses as a sentinel. It's just that I always have Liara in my squad (well 95% of the time after therum) and she'll take care of biotics. That just leaves a spot for kaidan/tali/garrus. Or anyone else if you're a soldier/adept/vanguard and take decryption as a bonus talent and just max Liara's electronics skill of course...

Well it's not like I hate him or anything. It's just that I tend to use Liara for biotic powers and Tali/Garrus if I need a bit of a tech boost. Ashley is practicaly a reguar in my squad, while Kaiden spends most of the post Citadel game looking after the Normandy with Joker. So when it comes down to it, it's either lose a soldier who is you regualr squad member (Ashley) or a sentinel you never really use much (Kaiden).
My Shep isn't really happy with losing anyone but sometimes you just have to make a decision..

I got the impression TMA was talking about a PS3 bug, hence why you (nor I) have never encountered that bug before. It would seriously ruin my day if that happened though. I save Ashley and Kaidan about equally. Did 4 playthroughs so far, saved both Ashley and Kaidan twice...

During the kiss with Shepard, Liara realises that she may hate her, and that she is completely unaware of the fact that she handed her body over to Cerberus. This, obviously, is one of a multitude of reasons as to why Liara was somewhat distant and evasive on Illium, and explains her behaviour toward Shepard.
Her fears tormenting her one again, Liara ends the kiss, and turns away from Shepard with a sad and distant expression etched on her face. It's an extremely difficult moment for Liara, and she must feel horribly conflicted.

My own interpretation is that Liara is actually frustrated at herself, and her fleeting anger is a manifestation of that frustration. I think Liara realises that she seems distant and evasive, and that it's upsetting and confusing her lover. Liara desperately wants to inform Shepard of everything that has occurred since her death, and her own role in Shepard's resurrection. However, her aforementioned fear prevents this from happening, and Liara is afraid that Shepard will hate her.
Knowing that she may be unintentionally hurting her lover, and yet feeling powerless to stop it, is something that could cause Liara to lose her composure during a particularly emotional exchange. She's frustrated at herself for acting in this manner, and reacts accordingly. She's not really angry with Shepard at all.
